Fall 2018 Emergency Medical Technician Course

General Information Accreditation St. Charles County Ambulance District is approved as an EMS training entity through the Missouri Department of Health, Unit of EMS. Certificates and CEUs for EMT-Refresher students will be awarded upon completion of the course. What To Wear A uniform will be required for class sessions and clinicals. Details will be provided at orientation. Students will need to purchase their own stethoscope to use for class and clinical (more information to be provided by the instructor). Course Meeting Dates & Times Tuesdays & Thursdays August 14 December 13 6 p.m. 10 p.m. Course Prerequisites please submit copies Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider CPR certification or Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (prior to orientation day) Current TB test (within last 12 months) Hepatitis B and MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccination Current season s Influenza Immunization ~ AVAILABLE SEPT/OCT Proof of 18 years or older (copy of drivers license) Copy of high school diploma, GED, or college transcript Copy of current health insurance card (Requirement for some clinical sites) Be registered with the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (info sent to student) tetanus/diphtheria Acellular-Pertussis (DTaP) Varicella vaccination or positive titers * IMPORTANT -- Please submit all required documents prior to OR at orientation! Students will not be allowed to attend the first night of class & will accrue absences until all documents have been received. * EMT Refresher students must show proof of current EMT license & BLS CPR card, but will not need to submit vaccination verification. St. Charles County Ambulance District s EMT Program provides students with a well-rounded learning experience, which includes classroom discussion, equipment practice, ride-along time with paramedics and in-hospital clinical hours.

Tuition, Books and Other Fees Fee Description $1316.00 Course fee which includes tuition, FISDAP scheduler & testing, drug screen, criminal record check, student liability insurance, and one required EMT student uniform shirt. * $987.00 *(This course fee is for members of Fire Districts under the Physician Advisory Board agreement.) $13.00 The Missouri Family Care Safety Registry ON-LINE FEE to be paid to FCSR by the student. More information will be given in course acceptance packet. $25.00 Students will be required to wear an approved ANSI II Vest for ambulance clinicals. Loaner vests will be provided with a refundable deposit upon return of the vest. Vest deposit is due at orientation. $295.00 (approximate) Wi-Fi Device & Stethoscope The required textbook bundle package is to be purchased by the student AFTER acceptance into our program. Details regarding book purchasing will be given in your course acceptance packet. The book package fee is approximate. *Students will need to bring a Wi-Fi capable tablet or laptop to class. AND students will need to purchase their own stethoscope ~ (information to be provided by instructor). Hospital clinical requirements include a criminal record check (contact us for felony program exclusion criteria), a drug screen, and student liability insurance. Costs associated with all requirements are included in your tuition. Further information will be provided after you are accepted into the program. Current health insurance is recommended and is required for some clinical sites. Emergency Care & Transportation Of the Sick & Injured Text, 11 th Ed. By American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Tuition for EMT Refresher Students is $488.00 plus book fees (if needed) as well as a class shirt fee. If a refresher student is participating in clinicals, fees for background check, drug testing, FISDAP testing/scheduler and a vest will be assessed in addition to the tuition fee. If you would like to pay your tuition in installments, please be advised of the payment schedule. Late fees may be assessed for past due payments. EMT Course Refunds Withdrawal prior to class start date, full refund on tuition & ANSI Vest (if returned) minus $30 application fee, shirt fee, drug testing and background check fee. Withdrawal between first and fourth week of class, 50% refund of total tuition (if tuition was paid in full). After fourth week of class - No refund on tuition Refunds to veterans or eligible persons who fail to enter or fail to complete the course will comply with the Department of Veterans Affair Regulations, CFR 21.4255. Refer to VAONCE for details. **There will be additional fees for state & national licensure exams upon course completion. Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider CPR Requirement MUST HAVE PRIOR TO ORIENTATION Because a current AHA Basic Life Support Provider CPR card is a prerequisite for the Emergency Medical Technician program, we will be offering this course before EMT class starts. Basic Life Support Provider CPR teaches students how to perform one and two rescuer CPR on adults, children and infants. In addition, the class addresses topics such as choking and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). When: Saturday, June 23, 2018 or Saturday, July 21, 2018 Time: 9 a.m. 1 p.m. Cost: $67.00 for class; $13.25 for book to be purchased by student (on-line registration & payment required) Where: St. Charles County Ambulance District Training Center 4141 Mexico Rd. Registration Because class size is limited, advance registration is required for St. Charles County Ambulance District s EMT program. In the past, this course has filled very quickly, so early registration is highly recommended. We will accept the first applicants, to capacity who turn in their registration form AND half the tuition payment. You can send in registration even if your immunization paperwork is not currently available (missing prerequisite paperwork and remaining balance will be due at orientation). PLEASE NOTE: YOUR REGISTRATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT HALF THE TUITION! Orientation Saturday, July 28th, 2018 (MANDATORY) Each accepted EMT student must attend the mandatory orientation session that will be held on, Saturday, July 28th from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Students will be contacted to sign up for an hour time slot. At orientation, students will complete paperwork, take pictures for ID s, order shirts, receive class policies and loaner ANSI II vests and make final payments.
