A day in the life of Year 1 A day in the life of Year 1 Our Theme Learning Theme is fantastic because we learn lots of exciting things. We have lots of interesting school themes like Don t Judge a Book and Whatever Next. We do lots of writing in theme and we have got much better because we are very good at looking at our targets. We get to dress up on special event days. We started learning French and Arabic in Year 1. We like learning new words in different languages. We really enjoy getting Magic Moments in assembly. The teacher chooses a person each week who has done something special and they get a certificate. During our Don t Judge a Book learning we learned about similarities and differences between people. We learnt about some amazing people and created art work with our bodies. We loved Arts Week because we got to learn about Peter Pan and make clay models. We then used animation clay to make a film of the story. Where is your Year 1 learning journey likely to Festive Cracker We had a big performance on the field and sang lots of songs. Afterwards there were lots of stalls and Year 1 made reindeer food to sell. There was also splat the teacher and we got to throw wet sponges. Book Week We looked at The Paperbag Princess in Book Week and we wrote alternative endings to the story to change the characters. There were three winners from Year 1. We came to school dressed as knights and princesses which was really fun. Eco Week Part of our Student Voice group are the students who help make sure our school is eco friendly. In Eco Week we had to dress up in green, collect and bring in lots of paper from home and watch it being shredded by our new recycling company. In the morning we had the challenge of seeing how many laps we could do around the sports field. We also had to switch all the lights off and not use anything electric. This was so exciting as we helped to plant new gaffur trees to help improve their numbers and prevent them from Extinction. I loved learning about Cinde-boy as part of our don't judge a book theme. My really enjoyed making masks for our masquerade ball. We used mod-roc, ribbon and sequins to make our masks look really special. Sports day I loved taking part in sports day. It was so fun being with all the people in my house and competing. It didn't matter were we came as we all got points for our house! Where is your Year 2 learning journey likely to I loved learning about Friction in Science. Our challenge was to get Cinde-boy to the football match as quickly as we could.
