The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is a full-time (generally residential) mode, which aims to develop outstanding scholars for teaching and/or research careers at leading business schools/universities or management research institutions. To accomplish this, the Programme provides students with knowledge and research skills that make them specialized researchers with sufficient depth of knowledge in the various management knowledge domains. In this context, the Programme encourages interdisciplinary research into contemporary problems. It would take threefour years to complete. FPM students shall be provided scholarship of Rs. 24,000/- per month for first two years and Rs. 26,000/- for next two years. In addition students shall be provided tuition fee waiver. The contingency grant shall be available to the Fellow Students: FPM First year: Rs. 10,000/-, Second Year: Rs. 20,000/- and Third Year: Rs. 20,000/- in connection with their research work. This Programme should be completed in three to four years from the date of admission into the FPM Programme. Financial Assistance to FPM Students for Participation in National/International Conferences for Paper Presentation: FPM students are encouraged to disseminate their research work to the peers, academics and other research community, and to become part of the wider research community. The Institute, therefore, will provide financial support to FPM students for presenting a paper in National/International Conferences according to the following rules: Page 1 of 5

1. Financial support would be considered only for those conferences where published conference Proceedings would be made available to the conference attendees. 2. FPM students are allowed to attend a maximum of two National and one International conference during the entire tenure of their FPM course. Students can avail of the benefits as per their convenience subject to maximum of three conferences. However, attendance at an International Conference will be supported only after the student has cleared his/her research proposal. National Conference will be supported only after the student has passed his/her comprehensive Exam. 3. For presenting a paper in a National Conference, FPM students would be allowed reimbursement of Conference registration fee and travel expenses limited to only the train fare (maximum AC 111 class on production of railway tickets/receipts). In addition, they will also be allowed Daily allowance (DA) as applicable to officer s grade of the institute. 4. For paper presentation in an International Conference, financial support would be provided only if the conference is of professional quality and when the paper has major contribution from the student. In case of more than one author for the paper, the student will have to be the first author of the paper. FPM students would, therefore, be required to submit their application for financial support for conference attendance along with (a) detailed documents describing the conference details, (b) a copy of the paper (submitted to the conference), (c) paper acceptance letter, and (d) referee s comments on the paper. 5. In case of an International conference, FPM students would be allowed reimbursement of conference registration fee and 50% of the economy class airfare by the shortest route (only on production of used air ticket and boarding passes.). 6. FPM students may also be allowed to attend an International Conference in a SAARC country in lieu of a National Conference. In such a case, the students would be reimbursed maximum amount of Rs. 2000/- in lieu of the conference registration fee, and paid AC III class train fare (on production of receipt) to the nearest point in India from the place of the conference. 7. Student would be required to submit a written report of the National Conferences attended by them describing the academic content and value of conference sessions and other academic issues of interest, if any. For an International conference, the FPM student will also be required to give an open seminar on the paper presented by him /her. 8. To avail this financial support, the dates of the conference must be within the 3-Year FPM term of the student, and not after the 3-year term is over. 9. To avail the International /National Conference Support by EFPM Scholar: This may be decided on a case to case basis and under exceptional circumstances, like awards, research grants, paper presentation given to the to the concerned Candidate and with the approval of FPM Committee. This may be possible only after a certificate/letter/email is received from the competent authority at the organization of the concerned scholar, stating that the organization will be able to provide leave to the EFPM Scholar for the said period and the competent authority at the organization is agreeable to MDI reimbursing some part of the amount. Based on this, MDI may consider reimbursement of conference registration fee and 50% of the economy class airfare by the shortest route (only on production of used air ticket and boarding passes). This will be made possible only once in the entire duration of the Programme and under exceptional circumstances.
