Family Discipleship Plan Genesis Abraham Do you see yourself as ordinary? Do you wonder why some others are more talented, intelligent, beautiful, outgoing? Abraham was willing to obey God and take that first step of faith that leads to a journey of excellence and greatness. Through this study of the life of Abraham, you and your family will take a journey of faith, following Abraham one step at a time to become a Friend of God. Do you long to be God s friend? Precept Ministries has several Abraham studies designed for different levels of in-depth study your family can use to study together. Books for Adult Study Depending on your experience with Precept Inductive Bible Studies, you can select one below as part of the Genesis Abraham Family Discipleship Plan. We recommend this study for adults who are familiar with Precept Inductive Bible Studies. (The Pentateuch) This six-week study will introduce you to the Precept Inductive Bible Study Method. The book has 13 lessons (weeks), but for this plan adults will use only a portion of the book. Feel free to study the rest of the book on your own or with your family! Books for Student Study The books are recommended for different aged children. Please read each description to decide which book best fits your child s needs. This study is perfect for your School student. The vision of the Inductive Bible Study Curriculum series is to provide a Bible study resource that teaches students not only the Word but also how to mine truth in the Word. This six-unit study focuses on Genesis 12 25. This study was written especially for children ages 8 to 12. It provides fun and interactive exercises that lead your child through Genesis 11 25 to discover Truth for themselves. The Discover 4 Yourself Abraham study is a six-week study. 1

Ideas for Including Non-Readers Read aloud to your younger children the scripture(s) for each day s study. Cut out colo red symbols to represent key words from the scripture(s) being studied. Glue the symbol onto a stick or draw it on an index card. When you or your older children read aloud scriptures to younger children, help the non-readers recogni e them by holding up the stick or card with the corresponding symbol when they hear the keyword read. (choose from the following) Have younger children draw a picture of what they heard and learned for the scripture of the day. Use clay or playdough to model the story. Let the younger child draw the characters. Make paper dolls from their drawings and let them use their paper dolls to retell the story. Make a Diorama from a shoebox to tell the story. Make a mobile featuring marking symbols with keywords of the scriptures studied. Sharing Aloud Have your child re read the text to you or a member of the family. (choose from the following) Have them act out the study or scripture for that day. This can include props and costumes you make. Videotape the production as a play or news broadcast. Use all the children in the production. Let them use puppets to retell the story. Let the younger child pretend to be the Bible character being studied and let an older child conduct an interview for a pretend radio or television show. (choose from the following) Play games that reinforce the facts of the scripture. Let older children make up a game for the younger children to play. Let the younger child ask who, what, when, where, why and how questions of the other members taking part in the study. 4
