THE MALAYSIAN INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS (INSTITUT AKAUNTAN AWAM BERTAULIAH MALAYSIA) MICPA-ICAA ACCOUNTANCY WEEK NEXT GENERATION ACCOUNTANT NOVEMBER 16 23, 2013 ACCOUNTING QUIZ (AccQuiz) FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS RULES & REGULATIONS 1. Eligibility The competition is open to all students in upper forms (Form 5, Form 6, A level or equivalent) in government as well as private schools/colleges registered with the government. Each school is allowed to enter a maximum of two teams. All teams must be approved by the headmaster / principal of the school and must be accompanied by a teacher. 2. Composition of Team Each participating team shall comprise 3 students whose names shall appear in the entry form for the quiz. In the event of any change of the member(s) of the team, the organiser must be informed at least 24 hours before the time scheduled for the quiz. 3. Categories of questions Quiz questions are designed to test students in the following areas: Subjects in the school curriculum Languages, including spelling Economics Commerce & Accountancy General Science Current Affairs Sports Politics Entertainment Who is who
4. Selection of Winners The competition is divided into two rounds as follows: I. Preliminary Round: The Preliminary Round will be held at three centers Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru. The Preliminary Round will be in the form of a written quiz, consisting of multiple choice questions. The aggregate score of the members of each team will make up the team total. The 4 teams with the highest total score will qualify for the Final Round. However, only one team from each school can advance to the Final Round. II. Final Round: The Final Round will be held in Kuala Lumpur. The final round will be in the form of an oral quiz. The finalist teams will be posed with randomly selected questions. When a question is posed, the team which responds first by pressing the buzzer shall be eligible to answer the question. If the team fails to answer the question within ten (10) seconds or answers incorrectly, the question shall be opened to the other teams who shall be given five (5) seconds to answer. The team which scores the highest cumulative aggregate points shall emerge as the winner of the Quiz. 5. Prizes The following prizes will be presented: Champion Team: Challenge Trophy (to be retained for a year) for the winning school and RM700 cash prize and commemorative plaques for team members. 1 st Runner-Up Team: RM500 cash prize and commemorative plaques for team members. 2 nd Runner-Up Team: RM300 cash prize and commemorative plaques for team members. An Award will be presented to a student with the highest individual score achieved during the preliminary round.

Date & Venue Preliminary Round Kuala Lumpur: Date : November 16, 2013 (Saturday) Time : 9:00 a.m. Venue : Multimedia University Cyberjaya Campus Jalan Multimedia 63100 Cyberjaya Selangor Penang: Date : November 16, 2013 (Saturday) Time : 9:00 a.m. Venue : YMCA 211 Macalister Road 10450 Penang Johor Bahru: Date : November 16, 2013 (Saturday) Time : 9:00 a.m. Venue : To be confirmed Final Round Date : November 23, 2013 (Saturday) Time : 11:00 a.m. Venue : Multimedia University Cyberjaya Campus Jalan Multimedia 63100 Cyberjaya Selangor Note: MICPA endeavors to run all three sessions above but reserves the right to cancel the session if there are insufficient candidates. In this case, MICPA will offer the school to register for the confirmed session in other states or registration fees will be refunded. 7. Participating Fee RM45.00 (Per team of 3 participants) 8. Language The competition will be conducted in English except where the test is on Bahasa Malaysia.
9. Arbitrators / Judges An independent panel of arbitrators will be appointed by the organiser. In the event of any contention with regard to answers to the quiz questions, the decision of the arbitrators shall be final. 10. Report to Organiser All participating teams must report to the organiser at the venue set for the quiz at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time for the preliminary and final round. Late arrivals shall be disqualified. 11. Expenses Participating teams from the Klang Valley are to bear their own expenses for taking part in AccQuiz. Teams from outside the Klang Valley who qualify for the Final Round will be granted a subsistence allowance of RM200.00 per team. 12. Certificate of Participation A Certificate of Participation will be presented to all participants in AccQuiz. 13. Entries Entries for AccQuiz must be made using the Entry Forms provided.
