Make the 4 ACCA sittings work for you. At BPP we want to give you the best chance to get ahead in your Accountancy career. Now ACCA have introduced 4 sittings a year your studies can be more flexible which can make it more difficult to structure your progression. With this in mind we wanted to give you our recommendations for what these changes mean and what your options are so you approach the exams confidently and maintain your pace through the qualification. Having goals to meet split the course up and allows you to have an idea on how you re doing or areas you may need to work on. Elaine Denise Gayle, ACCA Student Planning your studies We recommend you aim to complete four exams per year. In the past to achieve this, you would have needed to sit two exams per sitting. More exam sittings mean you have more flexibility around when you sit your exams. There are three approaches we would recommend: Little and Often This option is ideal if you felt overwhelmed studying two papers simultaneously and are happy to progress consistently and without a break. You should attempt one paper to each of the four sittings. To make the most of the time available we recommend you start studying for your next paper before you receive results for the paper you have just sat. Regular breaks Ideal if you prefer to have an intense period of study followed by a break. When there was only the June and December sittings it was common practice to study two papers at a time and you can continue to do that using December and June as your exam months or September and March. This does also give you the option of completing a resit in the alternate months should the exam not go well but you should bear in mind two papers may feel challenging at the higher levels and you may need to be flexible with your chosen mode of study. Combination This is a mix and match of the above options choosing two papers for one sitting, one paper to two sittings and having one off, spreading out your studies a little either to give you a break or to accommodate busier parts of the year. With this option you get the balance of breaks from study and still complete four papers in the year.
