Combining the creative and technical aspects of web design and development, the Certificate IV in Web-Based Technologies will provide you with a broad skillset, equipping you for a number of different careers including website assistant, digital media assistant, junior digital/web designer, website administrator and junior developer. OpenSpace is Open Colleges online campus. We understand that you may already have many skills and areas of expertise that you have obtained in different ways and these are recognised through our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. Alternatively, you can contact a course and careers advisor to discuss your RPL options. What is the duration of the course? The maximum duration for the course is 24 months. You ll need to allocate about 19 hours of study time per week to complete it within this time. This is a guide only the time taken to complete your course will depend on your level of skill and knowledge. What are the entry requirements for the course? Minimum Age Requirements You will need to be at least 18 years old. Education Requirements There are no mandated education entry requirements for this qualification. English Language Requirements This course requires learners to read online learner modules, undertake a range of task-driven assessments and engage in online discussions. Consequently, learners need to have an effective command of written and spoken English. As a guide we recommend that learners currently or have previously:

Computing Requirements You will need access to a computer and the internet and you should have intermediate computing skills. Audio-visual requirements You will need access to a digital camera and associated software to save and upload video and image files to OpenSpace. Many mobile phones and smartphones include this technology. You will need access to software to view online videos and images. Software such as Adobe Reader, Windows Media Player, Windows Photo Viewer etc are available as a download from the internet. Software subscription You will be required to purchase an Adobe Creative Cloud membership (either monthly or yearly, at discounted student rate). The course specifically requires for you to use this software during Cluster 2: Design (Modules 4-6) however you may choose to extend your membership beyond this point if you are interested in refining your web content for all following assessments throughout the course. Skill Requirements To successfully complete this course, learners will require basic computing skills. This includes: > Creating, saving and editing Microsoft Office documents > Accessing and searching the internet > Downloading and saving documents from websites > Uploading documents through websites > Participating in online discussions > Compressing image files > Connecting digital cameras and downloading and storing images > Connecting digital video devices and downloading and storing videos. Physical requirements You will be required to operate office equipment and resources including telephone, photocopier, scanner and printer in a safe environment that includes an ergonomically sound computer workstation.
