Dominican International School CHINESE SYLLABUS GRADE LEVEL: 2 SCHOOL YEAR: 2017-2018 TEACHER: Ms. Lillian Chao E-MAIL:lchao@dishs.tp.edu.tw COURSE DESCRIPTION The purpose of this module is to develop the students ability in accurately comprehending and flexibly applying the language of our nation. Our aim is to equip the students with ability to listen, speak, read, and write; and the ability to use language to fully express the emotions, expand and mind, mold the character, develop the thoughts, and solve problems. The students will also be trained to effectively apply Chinese language in thinking, comprehension, discussion, appreciation, and creation, so that their life experience can expanded with diversified. At the same time, the students will be able to experience the Chinese culture via language learning, and also get to know the cultures of different races and countries. COURSE OBJECTIVE Be able to use the Chinese phonics symbols to assist in recognizing characters and extensive reading. Be able to use the Chinese phonics symbols to record information and express opinions. Be able to use the Chinese phonics symbols to enlarge the space for language learning and increase interest in language learning. Be able to recognize the basic order of strokes and writing principles of standard script. Be able to familiar with the character, tone and meaning in the textbook, and know to use various of phrase to daily conversation. Be able to understand the context and the main ideas of an article. Be able to observe a simple picture or event and then write an article on it. Be able to imitate the sentences types in the chapter and construct new ones. Be able to recognize and practice using punctuation marks. 1
