English Language Assessment Jurong West Primary School Primary 1 2015 Components Alternative Assessment: Writing and Representing Pupils will be given 5 questions. Each question consists of 2 pictures. They will be required to join the sentences using the adjectives of their own. Alternative Assessment: Listening and Viewing No. of questions Marks Weightage Weightage of assessment is not taken into consideration in Term 3. 10 10 5% Pupils are required to identify beginning and end sounds. They are also required to compare and contrast, and select the correct picture by listening to the teacher s instructions. Alternative Assessment: Speaking and Representing Pupils will be given a picture of items to choose from. They will be required to speak about their choice of items and the answer the questions posed by the teacher. Weightage of assessment is not taken into consideration in Term 3. Pupils are to practise and prepare for the presentation both in school and at home, and present with confidence, along with the correct pronunciation, intonation and expression on the day of the assessment. Alternative Assessment: Reading and Viewing 1 20 10% Pupils are required to read a story passage fluently with proper intonation and expression. The story passage contains familiar words taught in the Stellar books. Grammar Mini Test Pupils are tested on grammar items and vocabulary words based on the Stellar books and worksheets. - grammar - vocabulary - punctuation (fullstop, comma, question mark, exclamation mark and speech marks) - Cloze Passage 20 20 15%
