The companies specialty lies in large, complex construction projects, specifically building construction, road construction, road rehabilitation and infrastructure. ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME FIELDS COVERED Each year, Haw & Inglis award bursaries to deserving students within the Civil/ Building industry. Bursaries will be awarded based on academic merit and whether applicants meet University/ University of Technology requirements. H&I bursaries will be awarded within the following fields of study: Building Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered): South African citizen Currently in Matric OR have completed Matric Studying or intend on studying towards one of the aforementioned Undergraduate qualifications Studying or intend on studying at a recognised accredited South African tertiary institute Current Matric students: must achieve a minimum C symbol or 60% for Mathematics and Physical Science on your Matric certificate Applicants must also possess the following personal attributes: Love the outdoors Willing and able to work in rural areas Interested in the building construction and civil industry Strong leadership skills Good communication skills Take initiative

Bursaries are awarded according to academic merit and the requirements of the various universities & university of technologies. Final selections are made by an internal committee. Bursary funds are paid directly to the tertiary institution. Who is eligible for a Bursary? ONLY applicants who intend to study or who are already studying for a H&I approved under graduate qualification (Civil Engineering, Building, Mechanical Engineering) at an accredited and registered tertiary institution in South Africa. Applicants who intend studying for a post graduate qualification e.g. BTech; Honours; Masters or Doctoral degrees are NOT ELIGIBLE. What are the minimum requirements for an applicant to be considered? Applicants who are writing Grade 12 and have not yet begun university study require a minimum of 60% or C aggregate in Mathematics and Physical Science on a recognized school leaving certificate. It is customary for potential candidates to work for the company for at least a year after matric in order to give the candidate the opportunity to assess whether he/she shows interest in the construction environment, and to give the company an opportunity to assess the candidate. Applicants already at tertiary institutions must have a good academic record, with a 100% pass in all courses/modules/subjects.
