ASSESSMENT INFORMATION Specific Requirements for Assessment and delivery of this unit. ASSESSMENT AND DELIVERY INFORMATION This unit would normally be assessed through completion of the PTLLS Portfolio. Centre-devised assessment tasks are permitted, provided they are approved by before commencement of delivery. Assessment requirements/recommendations The units of assessment for the award were written by LSIS, based on LSIS overarching professional standards for teachers, tutors and trainers in the Lifelong Learning Sector. Each assessment criterion needs to be evidenced once only at the appropriate level, although it is envisaged that some will be evidenced many times over the PTLLS course. The recommended assessment for this unit is the PTLLS Portfolio. Below is the mapping of the PTLLS Portfolio tasks against the unit assessment criteria: 1.1 B1a 2.1 B2 3.1 B2 1.2 B1b 2.2 B2 3.2 B3 1.3 B1a; B1b 2.3 B2 B2 2.4 B2 Unit Summary The purpose of the unit is to enable the learner to understand teaching and learning strategies and approaches in lifelong learning, and how to use these to meet the needs of learners. It includes how to create a learning environment that engages and motivates learners. Indicative Content inclusive learning practice and what it means for lifelong learning teachers; 4

active learning and learner-centred approaches in specialist area including, e.g., assessment for learning, differentiation, experiential learning, learning conversations, modelling, multisensory learning; approaches to planning learning; selecting learning activities in relation to learning outcomes and learner needs; the use of information and communication technologies in learning and teaching; inclusion challenges for teachers and learners and factors affecting learning, e.g., barriers to learning, learner perceptions, self confidence, prior experience, interest, motivation, sociocultural influences; embedding LLN in specialist area; strategies to promote learner motivation; role of constructive feedback in motivating learners; understanding the link between theory and practice. 5
