Descriptions of Collaborative Efforts ACCESS PA Librarians Meetings a forum for discussing current trends related to technology and media, and for sharing ideas and best practices. AESOP Substitute and Absence Reporting System absence/substitute software to track staff absences and place appropriate substitutes. Battery and Projection Bulbs Procurement Program provides a single source for all types of battery and projection lamp needs. Items are offered at nationally leveraged and negotiated pricing levels. Bulk Fuels Procurement provides a volume-leveraged, professionally managed service for the purchase of bulk fuels (bio-diesel, #2 fuel oil, and gasoline). CAFCO (Cafeteria and Food Cooperative) meetings for the Food Service Directors in Central PA to discuss cafeteria- and nutrition-related issues, best practices, and the facilitation of four annual food bids. Collaborative Purchasing Program provides volume-leveraged bids for both line-item supplies and catalog discounts. Collaborative Purchasing Solutions (CPS) a website and online marketplace providing an innovative, one-stop source for an organization s procurement needs. Communications Consortium provides collaborative purchasing of telephony services at a significantly reduced price. Contracted Technology Services services include System and Network Administrator Consultation, On-Site Network Assessments, Colocation, Virtual Server Hosting, Content Filtering, and Casper Hosting to school districts in Lancaster and counties. Courier Service a delivery service to and from IU13 and among the 22 school districts in Lancaster and counties, as well as the Lancaster and Career and Technology Centers, eliminating the need for postage and delivery service fees for the inter-district exchanges. Curriculum Coordinators Meetings monthly meetings to discuss best practices in curriculum, assessment, and instruction. Custodial Supplies Program a negotiated program which provides just-intime procurement of facilities supplies and equipment. District Contract Negotiations Sharing an opportunity for districts to discuss and review recent contract settlements and negotiation strategies. District Human Resources Exchange a forum for district staff to review human resources (HR) issues, best practices, certification updates, and pending HR-related legislation. District Human Resources Exchange Conference offers district administrators the opportunity to discuss topics of common interest and receive in-depth information on new initiatives occurring in the human resources field. Document Imaging allows districts to move to a paperless environment and to electronically manage files through document imaging, indexing, and retrieval. Early Head Start, Head Start, and Pre-K Counts comprehensive early childhood education programs available to families based on income, developmental delays, and/or language barriers. Education Conference an annual one-day conference that offers participants a variety of topics related to autism, literacy, transition, mathematics, technology, and many other educational subjects. The conference is open to general and special educators, administrators, parents, university students, and agency personnel. The presenters range from local professionals to nationally known speakers. ELECT (Education Leading to Employment and Career Training) provides pregnant and parenting youth with the supports they need to complete their high school education and transition successfully into employment or continue higher education. Coordination and collaboration with school districts and community resources will enhance the ability for youth to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for present and future success. Ed Tech Pool Counsel provides legal support in the constantly changing legal landscape that surrounds education technology. The technology pool provides proactive strategies, training, and policies designed to prevent the digital-age problems that can lead to liability. Electricity Procurement Program provides cost-effective and professionally managed services for the purchase of electricity. Elementary Tech Conference an Instructional Technology Conference for K-6 teachers and administrators. Emergency Certified Substitute Teacher Training training for non-certificated individuals, holding a bachelor s degree, to allow them to teach on a day-to-day substitute basis for IU13 programs and participating school districts. Employees Health Care Cooperative (EHCC) in Lancaster provides pooling and self-insurance for health care benefit plans and programs. English as a Second Language (ESL) District Administrators Meetings and Professional Learning Communities (P.L.C.) provides districts with the opportunity to: discuss current information from the PA Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Education, keep up-to-date with English as a Second Language research data, engage in professional learning opportunities, and provide input regarding district needs or develop literacy materials to enhance district/school capacity. Environmental Services Program provides a single source and competitively priced solution for all types of environmental services, such as compliance, remediation, abatement, and training.

Descriptions of Collaborative Efforts 4Sight Benchmark Assessment provides statewide facilitation and management of 4Sight Benchmark Assessment testing materials. Facilities Safety Training Program provides annual safety training for district maintenance and custodial managers, and their staff. Financial Comparison Data provides districts with financial information for evaluation purposes. Flight Team a team of district counselors, social workers, psychologists, and administrators who are trained to support districts in a time of need by providing counseling for grieving individuals. Gifted Network for Educators offers a network for teachers and coordinators of gifted students focusing on current topics and PDE policies related to gifted education. Instructional Media Services provides digital media and equipment for instructional use with students, including a wide variety of subject areas and instructional levels, shared between all districts in Lancaster and counties. Instructional Technology/Media Integration Meetings a forum for IU13 and district representatives who work with library/media and the integration of technology into the K-12 curriculum to discuss current trends related to technology and media, and to share ideas and best practices. IU13 Managed Wireless enables the customer to leverage the power of the robust IU13 Cisco wireless infrastructure to manage and deploy multiple wireless networks within their district. The customer needs only to supply compatible access points to hook onto the system over the Wide Area Network (WAN) or PAIUnet. IU13 Convention an annual event held for school board members and administrators that provides an opportunity to network, discuss current educational topics, tour a newly constructed or renovated school facility, or explore innovative educational programs. Keystones to Opportunity a statewide grant initiative that promotes a comprehensive approach to literacy for children from birth to Grade 12. Lancaster- Virtual Solutions (LLVS) a high-quality, cost-effective online learning solution for students in local districts. Legislative Breakfast an opportunity for local legislators to meet with school district board members and administrators to discuss education issues affecting the region and state. Lighting Procurement and Recycling Program a negotiated program which provides just-in-time procurement of lamps and ballasts, as well as providing a recycling option for the disposal of lamps, ballasts, and batteries. Literacy Design Collaborative supports content-area teachers in the design and implementation of high-quality instructional tasks built around a literacy framework that connects PA Core Standards with English/language arts, social studies, and science classrooms. Natural Gas Procurement Program provides a cost-effective, professionally managed service for the procurement of natural gas. Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness (OTDA) provide for the ongoing statewide implementation and use of the Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness (OTDA) education curriculum framework. Office Supply Procurement a negotiated procurement program which provides just-in-time procurement of office supplies. PA-Educator.net an online resource to help school districts actively scout, screen, recruit, and rigorously evaluate teacher candidates for potential or actual openings in school districts. Pennsylvania Institute for Instructional Coaching (PIIC) PIIC connects instructional coaches to collaborate with peers, gain support from other PIIC coaches, and share issues, concerns, and solutions. Meetings include networking, professional learning, and IU updates. Plant Managers Meetings meetings for the plant managers of the Lancaster and county school districts to discuss facilities-related issues and provide support as needed. Private Cloud Services through the use of IU13 Private Cloud Services, school districts are able to expand and upgrade their technology infrastructure while decreasing operational costs. IU13 Private Cloud Services provide management implementation and disaster recovery of Microsoft Exchange, directory services, and Microsoft Lync. PULSE (Partnership to Understand and Lead STEM Education) a math/ science partnership grant program designed to increase STEM achievement. Property Casualty Insurance Pool provides Property/Casualty and School Leaders Liability coverage, building appraisal services, and risk management assessments. Psychologist Network a forum for professional development and/or roundtable discussion concerning best practice within the field of school psychology.

Pupil Services Administrators Meetings network meetings for local, state, or national updates in the field of pupil services, as well as roundtable discussion and planning for local pupil services needs across Lancaster and counties. Reading Supervisors/Title I Coordinators a forum to discuss current information from the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Education, keep up-to-date on current research related to literacy, engage in professional learning opportunities, review new curriculum materials, and plan literacy events throughout the year. School Business Officials Professional Development Program a collaborative effort with the Penn State University Center for Total Quality Schools. The professional development program includes: leadership and management training, in-depth information on new initiatives, and an opportunity to discuss topics of common interest. STEM Consortium provides a forum for science education leaders to network and build leadership capacity for enhancing and sustaining a standards-aligned science education system in schools/districts. Secondary Literacy Professional Learning Community a forum for local literacy education leaders and IU13 representatives to discuss: current information from the Pennsylvania Department of Education and U.S. Department of Education regarding secondary literacy, new curriculum materials, and development of structures that will enhance district/school capacity. Secondary Technology Conference an Instructional Tech Conference for grade 7-12 teachers and administrators. Social Studies Professional Learning Community a forum for local social studies education leaders to discuss current information from the Pennsylvania Department of Education and U.S. Department of Education regarding curriculum and best practices in the field. Special Education Consortia Services provides special education services for Lancaster and county school districts. Special Education District Administrators Meetings quarterly meetings for local, state, or national updates in the field of special education, as well as roundtable discussion and planning for local special education needs across Lancaster and counties. Statewide Discount Software Program provides school districts, parents, and educators across Pennsylvania with the means to procure computer software at a significantly discounted price. Student Enrichment Experience (SEE) Program provides a variety of standards-aligned enrichment experiences for gifted and talented students in elementary, middle, and high school. Superintendents Advisory Council monthly meetings for ongoing professional dialogue about local, state, and national educational matters. Superintendent Secretaries Meetings an opportunity for district networking and a forum for discussion regarding educational initiatives and updates. Teacher Centers central working facilities in both Lancaster and counties, complete with all equipment and materials necessary to assist teachers with the creation of classroom instructional materials. Tech Talk Live a conference that focuses on the day-to-day issues that technology professionals face in the educational environment. The intended audience includes system administrators, network administrators, help desk support, etc. Technology Coordinators Meetings a monthly forum for districts to highlight and discuss their efforts to advance technology. Transportation of Students with Special Needs a centralized routing to transport students assigned to classes outside district borders. Wide Area Network (WAN) Consortium provides connectivity between school districts to encourage collaborative projects, including distance learning and resource sharing, network design and management, and filtering to protect students from harmful materials on the Internet.
