AP PROGRAM @ CHS Offering of college-level courses for ambitious secondary school students AP courses are more challenging and require more work than other high school courses AP Exams are taken at the end of the year (May) Scores are 1 (low) to 5 (high) Most colleges give credit for score of 3 of better Check with your college(s) of choice to see if credit is granted 90% of colleges attended by AP candidates give credit and/or advanced placement for acceptable scores Student selection for AP courses is based upon teacher recommendations and additional criteria as listed in course descriptions AP courses are offered 2 nd semester, and all students must take the corresponding Honors course 1 st semester

COLLEGE AND THE WORLD OF WORK It is not too early for sophomores to be thinking along these lines If I were to poll your students about who plans to go to college, 100% would say they are going Our records show that about half of them actually follow through Despite much political pondering to the contrary, college is not necessarily for everyone
COLLEGE VISITATIONS & JOB SHADOWING Students now have 12 curricular days for college visitations and/or job shadowing Map Your Future is available to help plan these activities Limited to 6 days per year Limitations can be lifted for unique circumstances There is a form to fill out in order to take advantage of these days. It is available in guidance or on the school website
PICKAWAY-ROSS CAREER & TECHNICAL CENTER Provides juniors and seniors with skills, training, and certification to be used in specific vocational field Must have a MINIMUM of 10 credits by conclusion of sophomore year, covering core credits Upon completion of PRCTC program, students receive CHS diploma and certification in program of choice PRCTC Tour ALL sophomores, December 6 Visit 3 programs of interest www.pickawayross.com
