Targets Students are set targets for each subject Grades based upon their GCSE points score derived from national data. Students should be aiming to meet or exceed these targets. Students progress measure at every progress check point against these targets. Each subject will be providing a student friendly SOW, folder based notes and at least three assessment per half term.
Tutorials Wellbeing and enrichment. Wednesday period 1 Post 16 Tutorial activities. Key skills, Revision techniques, PWB, EWB and a careers package. Compulsory attendance. Enrichment (WEX/TEFL/Peer mentoring/teaching assistant/epq) Re sit Maths and English must be taken by any students who obtained a GCSE grade below a C.
Study periods. All students allocated study time outside of lessons. Encouraged to use the study facilities ILC/P5/Sixth Form centre. Responsibility of students to manage time effectively. Opportunity for WEX/Peer mentoring. Miss Bonser Intervention.
Attendance All students expected in all day (8.40 3.10pm). Review at half term for those who meet criteria off site pass Absences must be reported to Miss Bonserbefore 10am on the day of absence on 01922416024 Medical/dentistry and driving lessons should be made outside school hours. Authorised absences must be agreed by subject staff. Bursary linked to attendance. Below 90% reserve right to remove students from the course.
Expectations of students. Commitment to studies. Contribution to whole school life. Adhere to the schools learning policy and dress code. Communication with tutor and Sixth Form team.
Bursary Scheme Guaranteed Bursary if student or parent is in receipt of Income support, disability allowance, employment support, students in care or young carers. Discretionary bursary-can be awarded for school resources if you are having difficulty financially. Applications forms available today or from Mrs Bray.
Bursary Qualifying criteria. Adherence to learning contract. Attendance of 90% or above. Commitment to studies: satisfactory or above. No cause for concerns. Full details on the bursary can be found in the student learning journal.
Reports and communication. Progress checks are undertaken five times throughout the year. All progress checks sent home to parents. Reports issued to parents twice throughout the year. Parents Evening 1 st December -23 rd April (targeted) Mock exam week January 3 rd 13 th.
Support and Guidance. Tutors monitor all students concerns, praise and VISA logs. Following each progress check tutors sit with individual students to set relevant targets. Additional support/guidance given to students working below their target grades.
Rewards. CHIPS VISA Stamps involvement in school life. VISA are qualifying criteria to end of term trips and visits. Range from: Christmas market to Blackpool.

Top ten tips for parents of Sixth Form students. 1. Keep a copy of your son/daughters timetable. 2. Check the calendar for events (found on the school website). 3. Ensure all absences are reported before 10am. 4. Create a good working environment at home. 5. Monitor work regularly.
