Newsletter December 1 st, 2017 Let s approach Christmas with an expectant hush, rather than a last-minute rush. Anonymous SCHOOL NEWS Bishop John Corriveau s visit We are looking forward to a special day on December 5 th for our school blessing The Light of the World. Bishop John Corriveau will be spending time with all of the students and blessing our classrooms during the day. There is also a short Blessing prayer service in our school gym in the evening to which you are all invited. This will start at 7:30pm and is followed by a procession out into the main foyer where there will be a reception for all with drinks and cookies. Tours of the school will be available at this time. Everyone is welcome to this celebration! Thank you in advance for dropping off your Christmas cookies on Monday, December 4 th for this event. Thank you so much for giving to this. All extra cookies will be donated to the women s shelter and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. School Mass Please join us in celebrating mass Thursday, December 7 th 9:15 am. Thank-you to Mrs. Braund and the grade 4 students for preparing the mass. St. Joseph s gift Twoonie Day Monday, December 11 th will be Twoonie for Toys Day at school. Students may bring $2.00 (or more) and come to school in jeans that day with uniform shirts and sweaters on top. In the past we have called this event Twoonie for Turkeys where we raised money for Turkeys for the Gospel Mission. This year the money will be going to the St. Vincent de Paul food bank so they can purchase toys for family Christmas hampers. This way their children will find a special present under their tree. This month we are having an on-going collection of canned goods and toiletries for our Santa Sacks for St. Vincent de Paul Christmas. Items can be brought in at any time to fill our wheelbarrows in the foyer. The classes will also be requesting a specific item of need from each child to fill the class Santa Sack. Please check the expiry date on canned goods before donating. This is one very special way that St. Joseph school community can contribute this Christmas to help those greatly in need in Kelowna. Thank you!
