The major fields of study offered at the 8 faculties: Humanities (Arts) Social Sciences Law Science Life Sciences Pharmaceutical Sciences Health Sciences (Medicine, Public Health and Dentistry) Theology Information on courses offered in English is available 4-6 weeks prior to semester start. We advise students to make a preliminary plan based on previous course offers and adjust the plan when the course catalogue is announced, if necessary. This is typical for: Law Health Sciences Pharmaceutical Sciences Science Theology The other faculties offer some courses in English on undergraduate level, but please note that the range of courses and levels may differ from one semester to the next. Some departments are willing to accept exchange students in their last year of an undergraduate program at their home university for courses offered on graduate level at the University of Copenhagen. 5

Q20 Language courses for exchange students. The University of Copenhagen offers one Danish language course free of charge for exchange students from non-scandinavian countries. Danish language courses are optional. Web site: http://studies.ku.dk/studies/danish_language_courses/ Danish culture courses (cross-disciplinary) Each semester the University of Copenhagen offers a very popular Danish Culture Course and a range of intensive courses about Danish cultural and historical issues such as Danish Cinema, Nordic mythology and the Royal Danish Court). The courses are open to all exchange students. There is unlimited access. Danish culture courses are optional. http://culturecourse.ku.dk/ Other Information Q21 Types of Housing: accommodation The University of Copenhagen does not offer on-campus housing, and we only available to have access to a limited number of rooms at halls of residence (kollegier) and exchange shared apartments. students and Please note that students from Nordic partner universities cannot apply for housing estimated fees assistance. Around DKK 3,200 3,600 is the most common. Read more about it here: http://studies.ku.dk/housing/exchange_students/ Housing application procedure Exchange students apply for housing concurrently with admission when completing the online application form. Please note that students from Nordic partner universities cannot apply for housing assistance. Students nominated on Erasmus agreements: The housing window in the online application will be closed when a certain number of housing applications have been received. For the autumn semester the housing window is expected to close already in April, and for the spring semester, in October/November. An online application can only be considered received in time if the requested documents reach the International Office before the housing window closes. Students nominated according exchange agreements (general or faculty) with our overseas partner universities must have completed and sent their full online application, including uploaded transcript (and possibly proof of English language proficiency) not later than 1 June for autumn semester and 15 November for spring semester. Students who were nominated too late or applied too late to be considered for housing assistance can request the Direct Housing List with housing offers, typically from private landlords/landladies. Please note that the International Office is not in any way responsible for the housing offers on this list. 6

Q23 Other useful information (e.g., visa, orientation, local information) Residence Permit (Student Visa): Non-EU/EEA students should apply for a residence permit prior to departure. Usually, the processing time is 2-3 months. Please note that the International Office/Guidance and Admissions has no influence on the procedures at Danish embassies and consulates. Find the relevant embassy or general consulate: http://www.um.dk/en - Find us abroad The Danish Immigration Service, Copenhagen: http://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-us/ Before submitting the ST1 application form to a Danish embassy or general consulate the student must create a case order ID online, and pay a fee online according to guidelines on this web site http://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-us/coming_to_dk/fee/fee.htm The student must indicate the Case Order ID in the ST1 application form on page 2. The fee for applying for a student visa is approx. DKK 1,600. Please note that the embassy/general consulate is not responsible for checking application and the enclosures. Nor is the embassy/general consulate responsible for checking that students have created the Case Order ID and paid the fee. This will not be checked until the ST1 application is received by the Danish Immigration Service in Copenhagen. If students arrive before the housing contract takes effect, we recommend that they stay at a hostel or a hotel. A list can be acquired from INT-housing@adm.ku.dk We do not offer any airport pick-up service. If a student is assigned a Mentor (must be ticked-off in the online application) they may agree on a pick-up in the airport and other practical matters. Two orientation meetings are held each semester: Autumn semester: first week of August and September Spring semester: first week of January and February Students do not sign up for those meetings - they just show up! The program for the orientation week will be sent directly to the students email account, assigned by the University of Copenhagen at the time of admission. The program is also announced on our web site http://studies.ku.dk/ close to semester start. The Mentor Program: The Mentor Program: A Mentor is a student who volunteers to help with practical matters in connection with the 8 arrival of the exchange student; Waseda e.g. picking University up keys for the room, assisting with applying for a CPR number (Danish personal identity number) with the Danish authorities, etc. The International Office / Guidance and Admissions cannot guarantee that there
