Foreign Language Proficiency Entering students are required to demonstrate that they have competency in foreign language. Audition Requirements Theatre requires audition for: BFA in Musical Theatre BFA in Theatre emphasis in Acting Audition in the fall, senior year of HS First step, video submission Second step, on campus callbacks Competitive programs, enrollment limited to 12-14 Four year cohorts Dance requires audition for: BFA in Dance with emphasis in Performance and Choreography Sophomore hours and 2.5 GPA. Audition: 2 minute solo choreography of your choice, followed by interview with faculty.

Teacher Certification Requirements Students must meet the following requirements to be admitted to the Office of Educator Preparation and to enroll in their educational block and student teaching. 2.75 Overall GPA required and 60 hours C or better in the following courses: ENG 1310, ENG 1320, PHIL 1305 or 1320, and MATH 1315 C or better in two of the following courses: HIST 1310, HIST 1320 POSI 2310, and POSI 2320 B or better in COMM 1310 All-Level Certification (K-12) - Theatre Secondary Certification (8-12) - Dance 8

Additional BFA Degrees BFA Theatre in Design/Technology (Tech Production) If you are interested in the areas such as: Lighting, Sound, Costume, Make-up, Scenic, Technical Production, Props, Master Electrician, etc. BFA Theatre emphasis in Performance and Production If you are interested in Film Directing, Film Production, Stage Directing, Stage Management, General Performance, Playwriting, Screenwriting, Web series Productions, etc. BFA Dance emphasis Dance Studies - Good for studio teaching or post bacc studies such as dance therapy or physical therapy. Also best for student seeking dual degrees or double majors. 9

Graduation Requirements 1. You need a minimum of 120-134 hours to graduate 2. You need a minimum of 36 advanced hours to graduate (33** - 43**) 3. Minimum 2.0 Texas State GPA, 2.25 major GPA, 2.0 minor GPA (teacher cert. 2.75 Overall GPA)

Excessive Hours Once you hit 30 or 45 cumulative hours (since you first started school) above the minimum degree requirements, you will be charged additional fees. Magic number is 150 or 165 ATTEMPTED hours Attempted hours includes W and repeated courses Anyone who started college courses before Fall of 1999 is exempt See the online catalog for full disclosure.

Course Repeat Fee The third time you take a course, at Texas State, you will be charged out of state tuition. This includes Repeats and Withdrawals Developmental courses, and courses repeatable for credit are exempt from this rule.
