Why come to Hall Park Academy Sixth Form? Our results are on a consistent upward trend, with 2016 seeing excellent A Level and AS Level results, reflecting the positive impact that the Academy Trust is having. Hall Park Academy invested over 50,000 redeveloping the Post 16 centre in 2013, creating new learning environments and specialist resources solely for Sixth Form use. Hall Park Academy is centred on an ambition to be the best and that applies to students and staff. As well as a dedicated Post 16 Study Centre, our students are supported by and have access to specialist teaching and learning facilities across the site, including a fully stocked library, excellent dance, music and drama rooms and various IT facilities. Even more important than the physical resources are the staff who work here, all of whom are passionate about giving you the advice and support you need to achieve to your full potential. Specialist resources and a lower than average teacher to student ratio ensure that there is lots of support for students in class and via marking and feedback. You will be treated as individuals in a more adult learning environment and will be encouraged to take more personal responsibility for your own learning, development and progress. You can choose from a range of A Level and Vocational subjects. The majority of Year 12 students will take three subjects at A Level or one of the Vocational courses, the usual minimum requirement for university entry. With our positive, friendly and proactive approach to Sixth Form life, Hall Park Academy offers the perfect springboard to Higher Education, an apprenticeship or employment. The new facilities have been designed to rival the best of those that are available in nearby schools or colleges. 04 Gloria de Piero, MP for Ashfield

High standards. High expectations. We take academic achievement and standards seriously. It means all students have to be prepared to make studying a priority. You will be joining a community of like-minded people who are determined to achieve the very best grades they can and we will expect you to do the same. Good attendance and punctuality are just as important in the Sixth Form. A good attendance record is an absolute requirement for continuing with any course and to enter employment. The Sixth Form Student Committee, alongside elected student representatives, play a major role in the life of the School. This dedicated team of students meet regularly both as a group and with senior staff to discuss a range of day-to-day issues, which contributes to the effective leadership and management of the Sixth Form. Enrichment and extracurricular activities In addition to our academic and vocational courses, we offer a range of enrichment activities within the Sixth Form and various other activities designed to support students in the lower school. These are organised each September. We want our Sixth Form students to become well-rounded, informed and confident individuals who can function effectively within the immediate and wider community. Such life skills are looked favourably upon both by UCAS and employers, enhancing any CV or personal reference written by a member of staff. All students in Year 12 organise and complete a week s work experience in July of Year 12. I applied to study Medicine at university and have received a great deal of support from the School and the staff. I really feel that everyone is behind me and proud of my achievements. Joseph Wade, ex-head Boy 2016 now studying Medicine at the University of Leeds We offer students the opportunity to take part in various activities as part of their timetable including Young Enterprise, the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, the Extended Project Qualification, Sports Leaders (Level 3), Getting into Teaching programme, National Citizen Service and classroom support to select from. The specific list of choices does vary from year to year and is updated each September. It is compulsory for all students who have not achieved a grade 5 in either GCSE Maths or GCSE English Language to retake these in Year 12 and if necessary, again in Y13. This will involve additional timetabled periods as required. The enrichment programme will equip and promote self confidence, reliability, cooperation and leadership; skills fundamental to developing competent and responsible citizens within today s society. 06

A letter from the Redhill Academy Trust How to apply Dear Parents, I would like to warmly welcome you to Hall Park Academy s prospectus. Hall Park Academy opened as an academy in September 2014, sponsored by Redhill Academy Trust. As Executive Principal of the Redhill Academy for the past twelve years I believe strongly that successful schools have four key characteristics; High expectations of all students Valuing & celebrating academic achievement Consistently good and focused teaching Widening students experiences through a range of extra-curricular activities, including sports, music and the performing arts These four principles will guide the development of Hall Park Academy as a part of The Redhill Trust, for the coming years. Working with Hall Park s Head teacher, Stephanie Dyce, her senior team and the whole school staff, my priority will be to support the continued improvement we have seen over the past few years. I firmly believe that the next few years will be an exciting and very successful time for Hall Park Academy as it becomes the first choice school for all local parents and students.
