Is Sixth Form right for me? Sixth forms are different to Colleges in the following ways: Only attended by 16-18 year olds Shorter school day 8:45am -3:05pm An academic curriculum Fully qualified teachers that know you More support available to students Much smaller class sizes Every year, students leave to go to a local College but many return within a few Weeks for the reasons above.

What courses should I take? All students will pick 3 (or 4) A levels (or BTEC equivalents) to study for 2 years. Each subject will have 4-5 hours of timetabled lessons and 4-5 hours of independent study. Students will no longer sit an AS exam at the end of Year 12 but will sit all examinations at the end of Year 13.

A LEVELS These are normally completed over two years Usually assessed via terminal exams at the end of year 13 Limited amount of coursework Considered to be a more academic route Accepted by universities
BTECs These are normally completed over two years Assessed 75% through coursework and assignment tasks 25-40 % external assessment or examination Considered to be a more vocational route Equivalent to A Levels and have UCAS points Accepted by universities
Entry Requirements 5 A*-C grades at GCSE (or BTEC equivalents). In English and Mathematics, it is preferable that students should achieve a grade 5 in at least 1 of these subjects. Resit English and Maths available for students without a grade 5
