BAS agent educational requirements New educational requirements have now been implemented for Business Activity Statements (BAS) agent applications. To register or renew your registration as a BAS agent from this date, you will need to have completed: > At least a Certificate IV in Accounting or Certificate IV in Bookkeeping; and > A formal approved course in GST/BAS which includes both BAS/Instalment Activity Statement (IAS) and payroll components. This Certificate IV in Accounting meets these new educational requirements. FNS40615 Certificate IV in Accounting & FNS50215 Diploma of Accounting What is the duration of the course? The maximum duration for the course is 24 months. To complete the course in this timeframe, we recommend that you study a minimum of 10-12 hours per week. This is a guide only the time taken to complete your course will depend on your level of skill and knowledge. What are the entry requirements for the course? Education Requirements There are no entry requirements for this qualification, however, there are two prerequisite units that must be completed (prior to commencing FNSACC504) for progression into the Diploma of Accounting being: > FNSACC301 Process financial transactions and extract interim reports > BSBFIA401 Prepare financial reports The pre-requisite units are covered within the Certificate IV in Accounting. At the point of enrolment students will need to select their specialisation area being; the Tax stream or the General Accounting stream. Minimum Age Requirements You will need to be at least 18 years old. English Language Requirements This course requires you to read comprehensive learner workbooks, undertake a range of written assessments and engage in online discussion forums. Furthermore, the course relies on the extensive use of written communication. As such, entry to the course requires English proficiency to Year 12 level, or equivalent (a qualification at the Certificate III level or 3 years of work experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication). Computing Requirements You will need to have basic computing skills to undertake this course.
