This year s event will feature a cocktail reception, dinner, science entertainment, a wine wall, a silent and live auction, and an honoree program featuring students, educators, and community leaders. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who supported last year s Gala. Funds raised during the Gala support programs and the Science Inquiry Fund for scholarships. Your support helped us to bring science to life in the following ways: In school year 2016-17, we served more than 110,000 visitors at the Center and more than 40,000 additional students through outreach programs. We provided free admission to students who attend low income schools through the Science Inquiry Fund. The SIF covers all per-student charges for all Center programs, including Field Trips, for students and schools who meet certain criteria. The Inventors Lab Program provided students in grades 5-8 the opportunity to explore the invention process and develop their own invention ideas with the help of scientists, engineers, and other industry professionals. The program has resulted in full U.S. Patents. Our Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Network connected more than 350 professional women employed in STEM fields with more than 550 female students, creating a community of current and future STEM professionals who support one another through networking, social events, and mentoring. We opened our new expanded pre-school exhibit area, Engineers on a Roll, one of our biggest investments in permanent exhibits since opening our Allentown location. At this year s event we will be honoring four students and three educators who show a unique passion for science inside and outside the classroom, as well as our honorees who have made an impact on the Center through their support of science education. The honorees this year are: Dr. Frank Schweighardt, retired, Air Products; Vince Sorgi, Sr. Vice President and CFO, PPL; Cedar Crest College; and WFMZ. Contact Judy Belaires, CFRE with questions 484-664-1002 ext. 102 or judy@davincisciencecenter.org Thank you in advance for your support of this year s event.
