The following activities were performed by Council 802 during 2015-2016
On September 29, 2015, we hosted a RSVP special event for the Meridian Catholic Community - "Why I Chose (Am Choosing) To Be a Priest! On September 23 through November 21, 2015, we participated in and promoted the 40 Day for Life Campaign by posting daily devotionals of intentions, scripture and prayer to our Council Facebook page. During the month of October, members of the council lead the Rosary before each Mass at St. Patrick, St Joseph and St. Joseph Cupertino (Navy Base) Parishes. On October 29, 2015, our Council sponsored the annual Creative Contraption contest at St. Patrick school. On November 2, 2015 Knights set up the chairs and altar for our annual Cemetery Mass in honor of deceased parishioners of St. Patrick Church. On November 14, 2015, we hosted a 2 nd Degree (Formation Degree) at the Meridian KofC Hall in the morning, where six (6) Knights from Council 802 were advanced in Knighthood. Later that evening, Knights participated in the annual Music and Variety Show at the St. Patrick Family Life Center. On December 11, 2015, we sponsored the Catholic youth essay contest. On December 13, 2015, we celebrated a special Mass at St. Patrick honoring Our Lady of Guadeloupe. On December 20, 2015, we held our annual children Christmas party for the youth of the Meridian Catholic Community. During the month of January, members of the council lead the Rosary before each Mass at St. Patrick, St Joseph and St. Joseph Cupertino (Navy Base) Parishes. On January 16, 2016, members of our Council participated in the Annual Candlelight Prayer for Life Vigil in Jackson, MS. On January 17, 2016, the Marion Hour of Prayer, Holy Family Icon was introduced to RCIA candidates. On January 20, 2016, the Marion Hour of Prayer, Holy Family Icon was introduced to children and facilitators at our Parish School of Religion. On January 24, 2016, the Marion Hour of Prayer ceremony was celebrated at St. Joseph s Church. On January 31, 2016, our Council joined in saying farewell to Reverend Francis Frank Cosgrove, who retired with over 50 years of service. On February 10 through March 20, 2016, we again participated in and promoted the 40 Day for Life Campaign by posting daily devotionals of intentions, scripture and prayer to our Council Facebook page. On February 12, 2016 our council joined with the Knights of Peter Claver at St. Joseph Church to lead the Stations of the Cross for lent. On February 13, 2016, we honored our Ladies during our annual Sweethearts Night. On February 20, 2016, we participated in the Boy Scout Pinewood Derby contest as judges for the various races and best car events. On Holy Thursday members of our council were involved in the Gethsemane Watch from after Mass until the Eucharist was retired.
On April 10, 2016 our council sponsored a Brunch for the RCIA program for all incoming members and their families. On March 11, 2016, several members of our council help to set up tables and chairs at St. Patrick Family Life Center in preparation for the St. Patrick School Drawdown. In April 2016, our council will host a Cookie and Cake reception for our Confirmation class and their families. In May 2016, our council will prepare and served approximately 240 lunches for our First Communion members and their families and friends. During the month of October, January and May, members of the council lead the Rosary before each Mass at St. Patrick, St Joseph and St. Joseph Cupertino (Navy Base) Parishes. On May 15, 2016, our council will help with the Pentecost Mass.
