President's Message May 2018 This will be my last message for the 2017-2018 Program year so I want to say "Thank you" to everyone for all you have done for our veterans, military and their families, May is the month we dedicate to remember and honor our deceased veterans. The services for Beverly are scheduled for Sunday, May 20,2018 and for Brig. General William Doyle (Ameytown) Saturday, May 26, 2018. Please make every effort to attend these ceremonies. We also urge every member to attend their local Memorial Day services. Congratulations to all newly elected and appointed officers. Don't forget to either enter your Installation Report into MALTA or mail the report to our Secretary/Treasurer Jean George immediately following Installation. Now it is also time to mark your calendar for our Schools of Instruction. The District President's will have their School of Instruction on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Brick Post 8867. The Schools for all Auxiliary officers will be held on Saturday, August 11,2018 and Saturday, August 25, 2018 at St. Bamabus Church in Bayville. More information will be coming out shortly. If you have not yet made your plans to attend the Department Convention in Wildwood, June 13-16, 2018 it is not too late. Check this mailing for more inforaiation and all forms related to Convention are on our website. As we prepare to end this Program Year we must not forget that the needs of our veterans, military and their families have no end. Keep planning visits to our hospitalized veterans and don't stop sending those packages to our deployed military. Continue your recruiting efforts for new members. Take advantage of all those Summer activities to promote our programs and to invite people to join our Auxiliary. Thank you again for all you have done this past year and for all I know you will continue to do for our veterans, military and their families. Eloise (EUie) Eith,President

Lynn Ann Malone Americanism/Patriotic Instructor 34 Willow Street South Amboy, New Jersey 08879 732-401-0543 home 908-578-0440 cell Lynmall@aol.com May, 2018 Dear Sisters and Brothers: This year has gone by so fast. I can't believe it is now May and convention time is only one month away. Please notify all of your Auxiliaries in your District about the Flag Presentation which will be held this year at Convention on Thursday, June 14, 2018. How appropriate that the flag presentation will be on Flag Day this year. Practice will begin at 7:00 a.m. (Yes, I know that this is early) and the Program will begin at 8:00 a.m. This year we are hoping that more members of the VFW will be able to attend our ceremony. Registration for the flag presentation will be at the registration on Tuesday It would be nice to have as many Auxiliaries with their flags joining in this program as well as the Districts with their colors. If you are unable to have your District colors present, please still come and participate. We would like to have 100% participation if at all possible. Please call me or e-mail me if you have any questions. Sincerely, Lynn Ann Malone

m EMBERSHiP PROMOTION #10 Just think here we are going into May, flowers, warm breezes, and Memorial Day comingtothe end of our membership year. New Jersey is doing very well, and I thank the efforts of our brothers and sisters for their great work. Now we have just a little more to reach our goal. Remember membership is important to our organization. ik ilf:. ik. -M -slf. May brings refreshing sights of new growth, of flowers and trees, Mother's Day and Memorial Day. It also means that we still need to work on membership no matter that the year is at almost end. For Mother's Day, pay for a member who is a mother and give her a gift. Or buy a membership in memory of a Veteran for Memorial Day. Always keep a membership application in your purse or wallet. Remember we need to keep our members happy and make sure our members are kept aware of what is going on in our Department as well as being a friend to them. Thank you again for your endeavors. Mentor...recruit...encourage...grow! Congratulation to our 100% Districts and Auxiliaries. Some of you have reached your goals for this year, but that does not mean you stop. Try for that one member or new member. Just because you reached 100% doesn't mean you cannot try for 1 or two new or continuous members. Those auxiliaries who are all life members, remember to try for 1 more. You don't stop. Keep working to get 1 more. We are 98.10% and need only 166 more members to reach 100%+ 1. Stats are from April 22, 2018. RECRUIT NEW MEMBERS RETAIN CURRENT MEMBERS GROW THE ORGANIZATION "When nothing is going right go letti

Veterans and Family Support May 2018 Communication Denlse Beckier 12 Wright Ave Stratford, NJ 08084 856-448-3501 (can text me) dwilliams722(s)verjzon.net Buddy Poppy Displays at Wildwood! Summer Convention at Wildwood is just around the corner (even if Spring is not - brrrrr!) and I hope your auxiliary is thinking of entering a Buddy Poppy Display at Convention. It's always so much fun to see the creativity and inventiveness of each auxiliary's display. The displays can be set up as early as Tuesday morning, but no later than Thursday morning. Judging is Friday and displays have to be taken down right after session, so bring yours as early as you can for everyone to enjoy between Tuesday and Friday. The rules are pretty simple - use as many Buddy poppies as you want, just remembering to leave one intact somewhere on your display. Full rules and entry form follow this communication. I do hope you'll consider entering a display! Interactive Department Display at Convention I thought this year, it would be fun for the Department to take part in putting together a poppy display, while at Convention as well. Starting Tuesday, June 12th, there will be 6 blank canvas boards, one for each branch of service. There will also "tiles" with a Buddy poppy on each one, in a basket, for you to fill in with the name of a veteran in your life, that you attach to the corresponding branch of service he or she served in. Along with honoring the veteran who gave you eligibility to be a member of the VFWA, feel free to add the name(s) of any veteran/active duty sen^iceman or woman who's in your life that you want to honor. I hope we fill each board up and proudly honor those who have served for our country! Any questions, give me a call/email/text and see you in Wildwood!

They are: Sunscreen/lotion Mulch Arts & Crafts Garden plants/seeds/gardening tools Fishing rods/reels/hooks/tackle boxes Sketch books/paint by number/art supplies Items can be dropped off any time, at the main entrance. Be sure to fill out the receipt book - you'll get a copy - submit that with the hospital form (within 30 days of drop off/visit), so your auxiliary gets credit with the Hospital Chair. You can download a copy of the form off the VFWA Dept of N J webpage. **Please Note: There will NOT be a Christmas in July party this year. The new superintendent. General Ferrari has said he is looking to do an End of Summer Bash in early September. Details will be sent via the monthly communication, Facebook and the VFWA webpage, as I get them. Thank you all, for the generosity given this past year. From monetary donations to items dropped off, every bit is greatly appreciated and lets our Veterans know we haven't forgotten them! To all Auxiliaries and District As you know for the past years the Past State Presidents who participate in the parade at State Convention in Wildwood have been handing out along the parade route either American Flags or patriotic pinwheels to the childfren. As in the past many of you have helped to make this possible by making a donation towards the purchase of these items. Again, this year we are asking for your help in this giveaway, your donation in any amount would help us to keep this tradition at the parade. Pinwheels cost us a average of $25.00 per bundle, last year we gave away almost 600 of them, we only have about 100 left for this year, so we would be greatful for any assistance from auxiliaries/districts who could manage a donation. Thanking you for your support in advance Please make checks payable to VFW Auxiliary Send to Iris jean George 154 oak Pines Blvd. Pemberton, N.J. 08068 earmark your check PINWHEELS Auxiliary No, Amount enclosed $.
