Message from the Dean The research in medical field and adoption of technologies from other fields of science has made medical sciences highly technical. This era of high growth in size of medical indury and advancements in technology has made it highly competitive. To meet the challenges there is a growing need of technical as well as managerial manpower. The young managers need to underand complexities of competitive technology and manpower behavior. Improper use of coly equipment leads to higher cos and less efficiency. Similarly, improper handling of human resources not only increase the co and affects efficiency but also brings in a sense of dissatisfaction among employees leading to an atmosphere in the organisation which is not conducive to its growth. To address the above issues and other health related issues like programme planning, implementation, management and capacity building, the Indian Initute of Health Management Research was founded in 1984 at Jaipur. Now it is eablished as the IIHMR University under Rajahan State Government Act. The IIHMR University offers a two-year full-time MBA with specialization in Hospital and Health Management, Pharmaceutical Management and Rural Management. The MBA programme addresses professional skills that are needed to adminier all types of healthcare organisations in the country. The udents have undergone practical training in renowned public and private hospitals and healthcare organisations in India. The MBA program at the University, has demonrated the ability to meet the expectations of the indury. It is my privilege to asure that only the be udents from diverse backgrounds with impeccable academic credentials and desire to render dedicated services are selected. During the period of these two years, they are imparted vigorous training to adopt the future role as hospital and health adminirators. In the era of quality health care, now NABH accreditation is also mandatory for hospitals for empanelment under CGHS, so there are more hospitals that wish to obtain NABH accreditation which has created conditions for increasing career opportunities in healthcare indury. In order to meet the growing demands, IIHMRhas trained and groomed the budding managers to practice innovative thinking and demonrate the ability to meet the demands of ever increasing sophiicated health care organisations. Student Committees The University believes in enhancing udent s capacity. For this purpose, the udents have committees. Working with these committee s udents learn to plan, organize, implement and evaluate important activities of the university. Placement Committee The tiny glow of a candle fills the room with light. We, at IIHMR in Jaipur believe in bringing light beyond the horizons of India. The Placement Committee plays an inrumental role in facilitating the careers of udents. It undertakes various academic initiatives such as organizing summer training for the udents in hospital and health care organizations at the end of fir year and works hard for the final placements. Conference Committee The annual conference Pradanya is organized by conference committee which has been acclaimed by all for its academic value. The conference committee helps udents to actively participate in national and international conferences. The committee looks for such opportunities and shares it with the udent community to facilitate their participation in the conferences and enrich their academic experience. Alumni Committee It acts as a link between the university, udents and the alumni for organizing conferences, seminars, meetings, workshops and discussions. The committee plays a vital role in organizing the quarterly and annual alumni meet. Sports Committee To keep the body in good health is a duty otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind rong and clear; this is the belief at IIHMR. Cultural Committee The Cultural committee of the University is involved in organizing various cultural events at the university including the Foundation Day, where udents participate in cultural activities like drama, singing, dance with utmo enthusiasm. The nature of the committee is to encourage the adventure spirit of the udents by organizing feivals, picnic and various other activities. It also organizes theatre workshops, which helps the udents learn various management lessons. Class Representatives The class representatives are the interface between the udents, faculty and academic adminiration. They are responsible for coordinating the day-to-day class activities. MBA Hospital and Health Management It is a flagship educational programme which aims to develop trained professional managers with requisite skills in planning, implementation, operational management, diagnosis and problem solving, consultancy, and entrepreneurship. This is with a view to preparing them to manage hospitals and healthcare initutions globally, both in the public and the private sectors, thus meeting the demand for quality healthcare management. Objectives of the Programme The broad objective of the programme is to build knowledge and skills to perform as effective professionals in health and hospital syems, both in the public and private sector. The syllabus and course content are designed keeping in mind the current requirements of the healthcare indury. The objective is to allow udents an intense full time interaction with organisations. Summer training provides exposure to the udent in the working of an organisation in real time. It also helps udents to develop managerial skills and competencies, and facilitates an informed career choice by the udents. At the end of summer training, they are assessed on the basis of their performance during the period by way of a report and poer presentation. SECOND YEAR In the second year, the udents are required to opt for Hospital, Health ream. The ream is allotted before 18

the summer training on the basis of merit in the fir year, aptitude and individual preference.
