AUGUST 26, 2018 When the just cry out, the LORD hears them, and from all their distress he rescues them. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves. Psalm 34 Dear Parishioners and Friends; A heavy topic, but importantly, in this week's bulletin please see Bishop Matano s letter that was issued last Monday regarding the recent Pennsylvania investigations and related matters involving the sexual abuse of minors. This letter can also be found on the Catholic Courier website and various media outlets. With our Bishop, we together grieve for the victims who were violated by such egregious behavior from those who abused their position of authority. In Church this Sunday, at 12:00 noon, I will be hosting an open-forum discussion concerning the whole topic. This forum will be open to anyone who would like to come and participate in an open discussion about this matter or to bring up any other concerns or questions you may have. There is no set agenda. Due to the nature of the discussion, I must insist that no children be at this open forum please! I am guessing that the meeting will probably last about one hour. I think that having this separate open forum held after all Masses on Sunday will be the best setting for discussion rather than attempting to bring up this issue during Mass. Mass is a time to pray and be with God. And we need many prayers and grace from God! May God Bless You! Fr. RITA SCHOOL Spirit of Learning Corner Here's What's Happening... + This is the last full week of summer vacation for the St. Rita School students. Many of them are eager and excited to return to school. SRS families know that their children will be surrounded by friends with similar values, interests, and morals. They know St. Rita s teachers care for their students, listen to their concerns, and provide the highest level of education in a fun and captivating atmosphere. In addition, families know that their children will be well rounded spiritually, academically, socially, and artistically. When you enter St. Rita School you can feel the love of Jesus and St. Rita guiding our children through their day. + Students at St. Rita School are able to experience a variety of activities throughout the year. The school year will begin with a School Mass lead by Mrs. Sutley's 5th Grade class, followed by a Service Project collecting backpacks for CASA. Then the PreK, Kindergarten, and new families will all enjoy an Ice-Cream Social. September 29th will be our annual School Marathon at North Ponds Park. In October, SRS families will enjoy the Family Fall Dance. St. Rita School combines opportunities for spiritual, intellectual, physical growth, service projects, and social events to help our God Drops become well rounded, empathetic and caring individuals. "I enjoy teaching because it is one way I feel I am serving the Lord and loving my neighbors. Teaching also helps me give back to the community that has given so much to me in my life. It keeps me young, active, and smiling each and every day." We Need You! ~ Please consider being a Children s Liturgy Leader You don t have to be a teacher or a religious educator, you just need to like kids and enjoy spreading the Good News! Remember the family is where children first learn about God. This program helps the children become familiar and comfortable with the Mass and participate in understanding the readings at their own level. Feel free to come out with the children at 9:00 Mass and watch. Adults are always welcome. Don t miss this opportunity to grow spiritually along with our young people.
