Math Sequence
Freshmen Math Opportunities Geometry Honors or Geometry Students that have had Algebra 1 in 8 th grade. Students that have a strong background in Algebra 1. Student will go into Algebra 2 Honors or Algebra 2 their sophomore year Algebra 1 Students that took 8 th grade math or need to repeat Algebra 1. It is a state requirement for graduation. Students should pick up quickly on new math that is being taught. One section is taught per day. Sequential Algebra 1 Students that took 8 th grade math. It is the first semester of Algebra 1. The second semester (Sequential Algebra 2) will be taught their sophomore year. Students typically need more processing time for the material.
Science About the Department 28 Science teachers, 7 Special Education staff, 1 ELL/Bilingual Science teacher Courses are aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards and Advanced Placement (College Board) The eight Science & Engineering Practices are emphasized Instruction is driven by a hands-on philosophy. Students should expect to be in laboratory 1-3 days per week. All Core courses (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) utilize a Standards-Based Grading model. Students are given multiple opportunities to demonstrate knowledge and remediate on an individual basis.
