Laura Segil: Passion for Art M y life has always revolved around fine art. I ve traveled throughout my life and have always taken advantage of seeing it first hand. From Monet s house and gardens in Giverny, France to the National Palace Museum in Taiwan, wherever I ve been it has always been important to see as much of the art, or visit the country of its origin, as I can. Art is a part of our lives that is not a luxury, but a necessity. It feeds our souls and heightens our spirits. It is difficult for me to imagine a rich and fulfilling existence without the inspiration of artists and the art they create. Through running a gallery and sharing the collection of which I am so proud, I am lucky enough to nurture my spirit and that of those around me every day. Some of my earliest memories are of accompanying my mother to art classes at the Honolulu Academy of Art. Every week was a new adventure. At times I would be free to accompany one of the docents on her rounds of the Academy s impressive collection. My own artistic talent never emerged, but a great and lifelong love of the arts was born. Laura Segil, a native of Honolulu, blends backgrounds in fine art and design as director of Segil Fine Art. She holds a BA in Art History and has worked with Christie s Art Auction House and the Polo/Ralph Lauren Home Collection, participated in the Royal Academy of Art s program in Fine and Decorative Arts from the Renaissance to the Present Day. She also formerly helmed the interior design and residential art consulting firm, LCD Design. She now shares her passion for fine art with others through Segil Fine Art. www.segilfineart.com info@segilfineart.com (626) 358-5563
The Artists: A Community Jennifer McChristian At Segil Fine Art, the goal is to bring collectors together with extraordinary art. With shows changing about every month the public is invited to attend the artists receptions where they can meet, first hand, the artists represented. This hand -selected group of professional painters, sculptors and ceramicists are a friendly and supportive group who enjoy getting out of the studio and talking to the public at these events. I am proud to be a part of this gallery under Laura s direction. She has an eye for great art and a real feel for artists. To patrons she is friendly, engaging, interested and interesting. To artists she is incredibly positive, enthusiastic, affirming and supportive. She is also very proactive and constantly has ideas about new shows and events. There is always something going on, which I find energizing and encouraging. -Joseph Stoddard Joseph Stoddard Artwork from the top by Jennifer McChristian, Joseph Stoddard & Jason Situ.
