With the DBA offered by (MBS) in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University (SHU), you can boost your academic or business career in an international and flexible setting that doesn t require you to put your professional career on hold. The part-time DBA program of MBS and SHU is tailored specially to internationally-oriented professionals from diverse backgrounds. MODULE 2 (MBS): Research Design in Business and Management This module develops your ability to interpret and analyze key issues in the design of business and management research. MODULE 3 (SHU): Leadership, Management and Organization Theory The module aims to provide a balance between theoretical and conceptual clarification and practice by examining perspectives on leadership and management, and their location within organization theory. MODULE 4 (MBS): Europe in the World The module places European management and professional practice into the context of regionalized and globalized economies. MODULE 5 (SHU): Advanced Practice and Research in Business and Management At the core of this module are presentations by you and your fellow students that afford an opportunity to present developing research to the rest of the cohort and to attending staff. Sheffield Hallam University & Sheffield Business School Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) is renowned for its modern facilities, dynamic approach to teaching and learning, and high levels of student support. It enables them to develop and then apply the latest business and management theories to their own environment. It is for those who want to be recognized as contributors to management thinking and advanced professional practice. Dr. Samah Issa, DBA Collaborative Course Leader at SBS

Part One Complementary Studies During the first two years, you progress through five study modules in which you develop capabilities and knowledge to support your research and personal and professional development. Three of the modules address topics directly related to your research: philosophies of research in business and management, research design in business and management, and advanced practice and research in business and management. Two of the modules explore substantive issues: leadership, management, organization theory and European management. During the complementary studies, you are encouraged to consider issues critically, reflectively and reflexively. Using an enquiry based learning approach you identify your own research questions as well as resources to investigate your research problem. The guidance and support of a faciliatopr enables you to become an expert in your field. You demonstrate your learning through the preparation of five assignments of 5,000 words each. Concurrent to your study for the modules, you are supported in the development and planning of your research. A core element of the last study block is a presentation of your developing research. Attendance is mandatory for a total of 24 days during six study blocks distributed over two years. Three of the study blocks are held in Sheffield (England), and three in Munich (Germany). The Cohort An integral part of the program is the cohort, the group of students who begin the program at the same time and attend all study blocks together. Students in the cohort engage in discussions with each other during the study blocks, learning from each other. Outside of the study blocks, the discussions may continue, with students sharing ideas and experiences and supporting each other. Part Two Doctoral Thesis After successful completion of all modules and the formal presentation of your research followed by the approval of a 6,000 word Research Report, you then focus on the development and writing of the thesis. During this process, you receive supervisory support from Sheffield Business School and Munich Business School. The aim of the thesis is to enable you to demonstrate, via a thesis considered of doctoral quality, that you can make an original contribution to a relevant field of business or professional knowledge and practice in business and management. The thesis must include at least 60,000 words. You submit the completed thesis to SHU for defence at an oral examination (Viva Voce). When successful, the degree of Doctor of Business Administration is awarded by SHU.
