The application should reach to the Collector, Balasore on or before 16.09.2013. Eligibility Criteria:- As per the Odisha District and Subordinate Offices Stenographers Service (Recruitment and Condition of Service of Stenographers)Rules,1988 and Odisha District and Subordinate Offices Stenographers Service(Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Stenographers)Amendment Rules,2011. A: Candidate in order to be eligible for appearing in the competitive examination shall:- a. Be a citizen of India. b. Have registered his/ her name in the Employment Exchange of Balasore district on or before the date of submission of application and the registration should be valid till last date of submission of application or beyond. 1/6

c. Shall not be less than 18(eighteen) years and more than 32(thirty two) years of age as on 01.01.2013. The upper age limit shall be relaxed by 5(five) years in case of SC/ST, women and SEBC candidates. d. Have passed the High School Certificate Examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Odisha or an equivalent examination. e. Not be having more than one spouse living or in the case of a lady candidate have not married a person Who has a wife living. Provided that Government may if satisfied that there are special reason for doing so, exempt a candidate from the operation of this rule. f. be able to speak,read & write Odia and Have passed the Middle English School Examination with Odia as a language subject or Have passed the High School Certificate Examination of an equivalent examination with Odia as medium of examination in non-language subjects or Have passed in odia as language subject in the final examination of Class-VII or above or Have passed a test in odia of Middle English School standard conducted by the Education Department and g. Possess a minimum speed o f 40 ( Forty) words per minute in type writing and 80(eighty) words Per minute in shorthand in English. h. Must have knowledge on basic computer skill. i. Be a good character. j. Be a sound Health, good physique, active habits. 3.Examination FEES:- Candidates other than ST/SC candidates are required to deposit Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred) only in shape of Bank Draft in favor of Collector, Balasore payable at State Bank of India, Main Branch, The ST/SC candidates are exempted from payment of Exam. Fee. The Examination Fee deposited will not be refunded. 4.Recruitment Test:-The recruitment examination for the post of Junior Stenographer shall comprise the following tests:- ( a) Shorthand tests in English and Oriya and (b) Written test in English & Odia. 5. The standard and syllabus for the test are as follows: A. Skill test 50 marks. I. (a) Dictation : 10 minutes @ 80 words per minute..25 marks (b) Transcription: (On manual Typewriter) (b)transcription: (On Computer): 65 minutes (English)..25 marks. 75 minutes (Odia) Or 50 minutes (English) 65 minutes (Odia) 2/6

II. Basic Computer Skill (Theory)..50 marks Objective and multiple Choice type. i. MS- Windows :introduction of Windows. ii. MS-Office: MS Word, MS Power point, MS Excel, MS Access. iii. Internet: Service available on internet using MS internet Explorer. iv. ISM (Odia) B. Language Test i. Translation of a passage from English to odia 5 marks ii. Translation of a passage from Odia to English iii. Any Essay in Odia iv. Questions aimed at assessing the candidates working Note:- knowledge of the English Language 5 marks 10 marks. 10 marks. 1. The Standard of examination shall be equivalent to that of Secondary School. 2. Those who will qualify the written test shall be called for the practical skill test. 3. The Practical skill test shall be of qualifying nature. 4. Examination will be held on OMR Sheet. 6. Documents to be produced: The candidates shall furnish the following documents with their application forms. i. Three copies of recent coloured Passport size Photograph duly attested by Gazetted Officer. ii. Two self addressed envelop of 23cms X 10cms with postage stamp of worth Rs25/- each. iii. Attested copy of Certificate and Mark sheet of High school Certificate examination or equivalent examination showing educational qualification and Date of birth. Copy of both side of the mark sheets should be furnished. iv. Attested copy of Certificate for Basic Computer Skill. v. Two Character certificate in Original from any two Gazetted Officers not related to the candidate vi. Attested copy of the caste certificate issued by the Competent Revenue Authority. vii. Attested copy of the recent ( Issued within one year of last date of submission of application) Residence Certificate issued by competent Revenue Authority. viii. Attested copy of the valid Employment Registration certificate. ix. Declaration regarding one spouse living. x. Bank Draft in Original. xi. Checklist of documents submitted. 3/6

B) No TA/DA will be allowed to attend the recruitment test. C) The advertisement & Application Form can be downloaded from District website www. baleswar. nic. in D) Inclusion of name in the merit list confers no right to appointment.
