In order to be able to download the Panopto recorder software, you first have to connect your Blackboard account to the Panopto server. Go to the course in Blackboard where you want to add the lecture. 2/8/2012 3
I have already added a link to the course where I will put all my lectures. (I called it Lectures. ) Click on the Lectures link (or whatever link in your course you choose to use.) 2/8/2012 4
Click the Edit View link on the upper right corner of the screen. Now all the Blackboard tools are available. 2/8/2012 5
Use the Select Menu and scroll to the bottom of the list of tools to see the Panopto Video Link. Select that link and then click the Go button. 2/8/2012 6
If this is the first Panopto lecture you are adding, under #2, Select Panopto Course, click the Add Course to Panopto Focus button. If you have already added the course you would choose the course from the drop down list above the Add Course to Panopto Focus button. 2/8/2012 7
A confirmation screen will appear, letting you know the course was connected to the Panopto server. 2/8/2012 8
The course now exists in the course list. Make sure the course you want is showing up in the drop down menu. Then click the submit button. 2/8/2012 9
Now you can to go to the Sul Ross Panopto website to download and install the Recorder. (If you are not an administrator on your computer, you need to call OIT to do this step for you.) Here is the address to type into your browser: http://lecturecapture.sulross.edu 2/8/2012 10
Once you have downloaded and installed the Panopto Recorder, you will see the shortcut on your desktop. 2/8/2012 11
Click the Panopto icon on your desktop. The login screen will appear. Use the Blackboard login button. (It just worked better for me than the other option.) 2/8/2012 12
Enter your normal Blackboard username and password, then click the login button for Blackboard. 2/8/2012 13
Once you have successfully logged in, you will see the Panopto recording screen. From here you will create your recording. 2/8/2012 14
Now, go to the Panopto Website address below, scroll down the page a little way and watch the Recorder Overview video. (There are two versions, one for Windows and one for Macintosh.) These videos walk you through the steps of creating a recording. http://support.panopto.com/ 2/8/2012 15
Once you have created your lecture, it will automatically upload to the Panopto server. Panopto will take you to the Recording Status tab and show you your uploaded recordings. (But it may take a few minutes before you see it.) Uploaded means the lecture capture file is now stored on the Panopto server, somewhere in the clouds, and you can now link it to your Blackboard course. 2/8/2012 16
Go back to the Blackboard course where you want the lecture. Click the link you want the lecture under, then click Edit View on the upper right corner of the screen. 2/8/2012 17
Under the Select drop-down menu choose Panopto Video Link 2/8/2012 18
Now choose the lecture you just recorded and click the Submit button. 2/8/2012 19
The link to your Panopto lecture has been added to your Blackboard course. Students can click the underlined text and the lecture will appear. 2/8/2012 20
