Classes are offered during the day and evening. Students range from 17 to 60+ years in age. Program components include: Pathways to a Diploma Adult Basic Skills English as a Second Language Citizenship Adult Living Skills Fee Based programs for all types of job training. WEST HAVEN ADULT EDUCATION Career Preparation Classes Certified Nursing Assistant This is one of the most popular courses in the demanding medical field. This course consists of 100 classroom and clinical hours. Successful completion of this course will enable you to be certified to assist inpatient care. Classes are in session now. New classes starting in 2016. Customer Service 101 Are you a business owner who is interested in helping your employees brush up on their customer service skills? This course will teach these skills needed in today s businesses and will be specialized to suit the needed of your business. Contact the Adult Education office for more information. 203-937-4375 Security Guard Training This class will lead to your State of CT certification as a security guard. The State of CT mandates that you must take an 8 hour certification class which encompasses the necessary training a security guard must be familiar with prior to reporting to a job site. ESL Classes The advanced ESL classes have been busy working on literacy and participating in Career Pathways Education to enhance their learning and better prepare them for today s workforce. The class has been working in the computer lab training in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word 2013. College Credit Classes The following courses have been evaluated by the Connecticut Credit Assessment Program (CCAP) and recommended for undergraduate credit. Intro to Early Childhood Education This course provides an overview of early childhood education the history, trends, theories and philosophies embedded in evidence based practices today. It includes an examination of different program types, working with diverse families, inclusion, licensing, advocacy and professionalism. Child Development This course provides an overview of physical, emotional and cognitive growth and development of children from prenatal stages through age 8. It includes theories of child development and current related research. Classes are in session now. New classes begin in 2016
