Letter from the Principal Prospective Parents, We appreciate your interest in St. Mark Catholic School. With the many choices that you have in education for your children, we are happy to be a part of your consideration process. As you go through the process I encourage you to visit several schools and ask strong questions that relate to your children and their Christ centered education. We are proud of the fact that we are a small school that has been serving the Southside of Indianapolis for 69 years. Our strengths include a diverse population with over 35% student minority population, a low teacher to student ratio (15:1), teaching staff that partners with parents, our full-time special needs program, 2 ESL teachers, teaching of Catholic principles with prayer, religion classes, attending Mass and service projects. As we continue to function in an ever-changing society, we keep our focus on the teachings of Jesus Christ and help to develop students that are prepared academically, spiritually and socially for today s world. Along with our spiritual and academic strengths we are proud of the many service oriented activities that our school conducts. Our students volunteer at the Cathedral Soup Kitchen, collect items for Holy Family Shelter, have a canned food drive for Hunger Inc, conduct a giving tree to purchase gifts for needy families at Christmas time, write letters to veterans and soldiers at war, sing for senior citizens and many other activities that build character and help others. We have added over 200 Chromebooks, 25 ipads and 20 tablets for our students in grades Pre-k through 8 to utilize in their classrooms. We are using several web based programs such as ALEKS, IXL and First in Math for our students to gain additional academic enrichment. One of the most important decisions that you make in your child s development is the choice of school. We are a perfect fit for families that are looking for a school that centers on Jesus Christ, teaches life lessons, and provides opportunities for students of all backgrounds to excel. We thank you for considering St. Mark Catholic School as a part of your family s future. Come grow in faith! Thanks and God Bless, Rusty Albertson Principal St. Mark Catholic School

The St. Mark Athletic Committee (SMAC) was formed by the authority of the Pastor as the primary leadership, and planning body for St. Mark Parish s Catholic Youth Organization athletic program. CYO sports are under the jurisdiction of the SMAC and not St. Mark Catholic School. SMAC is responsible to the parish community and accountable to the Youth and Young Adult Commission. The committee establishes and periodically reviews the philosophy, and goals/objectives of the CYO program at St. Mark Catholic Church. It determines the sports/wellness programs to be offered under parish sponsorship and defines the rules for participation in them. The Program is managed by the Parish Athletic Director with guidance from SMAC. For more information on athletics at St. Mark contact Kris Able at: kable@stmarkindy.org
