Ties are available at the school office. Please don t forget the shoe rule tennis shoes only, so we can fully utilize our new gym everyday. Friday of this week will be standard uniform due to wearing dress uniforms on the first day of school. Please talk with your homeroom teachers if you have questions of what each of these uniforms include. School T-Shirts & ties are available for sale today in the library of the main school building from 11:30 to Noon, and also during school each day. Dress Code Overview

NEW STANDARD ELEMENTARY DISCIPLINE PROTOCOLS The homeroom teachers for Grades PreK4 4 th have designed a standardize color-coded behavior system that will be communicated daily to parents via the student s daily home communication page (e.g. weekly calendar, front of homework notebook, etc.) as follows: Green Start of Each Day, Good Behavior Because of their younger age, students in K5, that go up to Yellow, may be allowed to return to green during the same day if their good behavior warrants it. The changes in colors for students in grade 1 st 4 th, will remain and students will not return to green until the next day. Yellow 1 st Consequence for behavior issues Parents informed of the reason for the color change on the daily communication page. Students will miss 5 minutes of their next recess (it might carry over to the next day or later in the week depending on the grade and timing of the infraction). Orange 2 nd Consequence for continuing behavior issues Parents informed of the reason for the color change on the daily communication page. K5 students will miss an additional 5 minutes of their next recess break. 1 st & 2 nd students will miss their whole break at the next recess. 3 rd & 4 th students will receive lunch isolation at the next lunch period. Red 3 rd Consequence for uncorrected behavior issues Visit to the Principal Office. Principal will determine the appropriate path forward and communicate with the parents as needed. Merit Free Dress Day can be earned quarterly (once every 9 weeks) for grades K5 4 th. The homeroom teachers determine how a student in that grade can earn the Merit Free Dress Day and when the Merit Free Dress Day will occur each quarter. COMMUNICATIONS School Blue Folders go home on the first day of each school week. Blue Folders contain a weekly note to parents on activities around the school & other school information, forms, financial information, etc. The school extension is the church number 552-6140 ext. 6. The school website is WWW.OLGMARINERS.ORG Our school utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages, straight to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more. You can participate in this free service* just by sending a text message of Y or Yes to our school s short code number, 68453. SCHOOL VISITORS All school visitors must check in through the school office during school hours (e.g. lunch with student, teacher conferences, volunteer opportunities, etc.). TRACKING VOLUNTEER HOURS All Mariner Families are required to provide 10 hours of adult service per semester. We utilize the online program TrackItForward to track family service hours. This program can be accessed from our school website and also has a modile app that make tracking your service hours very easy. Please watch the blue folder for more information about service hour requirements and opportunities, and how to track your service via TrackItForward!

BEGINNING OF EACH DAY The breakfast program will begin the first day of school. The cost is $2/day and will be held at the main school building. Parents should bring students to the school front office to attend the breakfast program. Students will not be allowed into their classrooms prior to 7:30am. All other Students may be dropped off at the DROP OFF point indicated in the diagram below starting at 7:30am. PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF STUDENTS FROM THE 2 nd LANE or FROM NUECES Street. At 7:30am, all students will report to their assigned rooms (grades posted by the door). At 7:55am, the outside doors are closed and locked. Anyone arriving after 7:55 must go through the school office and is considered tardy. Students will attend Mass each day at 8:05am. Students sit together by grades for Mass. Parents are welcome to join us at Mass, but must sit separate from the classes. LUNCH Lunch Times for the students are as follows: 11:15 Kindergarten 11:40 5 th & 7 th Grades 11:25 1 st Grade 11:45 6 TH & 8 th Grades 11:30 2 nd & 3 rd Grades 11:55 4 th Grades No student is allowed to go off campus for lunch but parents may join their student for lunch and should sign in at the front office. If you would like to purchase a lunch, please contact the school office by 9am. Student Lunches are $3.25 (includes milk) & adult lunches are $4.25. OLG does not participate in the federal government Free/Reduced Lunch Program. Each student served lunch at St. Jude has a lunch account in PowerSchool.

There are two ways to pay for school lunches: o Option #1: Pay in advance at the school office and PowerSchool will deduct from your student s lunch account as meals are purchased. You can monitor PowerSchool to determine when it is time to add more money to your child s account. (Note: Each student has a separate lunch account even if they are in the same family.) o Option #2: Pay via FACTS. Every 2 weeks, lunch accounts that show a negative balance (aka money is due) will have this amount sent over to the families FACTS account and the PowerSchool lunch balance will be cleared. Parents then have 10 working days to pay for their students lunch bills via FACTS. If you opt to have incidentals paid automatically within FACTS, your lunch bill will be paid automatically every two weeks! o LUNCH ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS BBQ Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Carrots, Bread, Fruit & Milk! END OF EACH DAY Standard Dismissal Time is 3:45 for grades K 8 th all students will be picked up at the DISMISSAL point which is the same as the DROP OFF point. Elementary students will be delivered to their cars and middle school students will be given permission to go to their cars in the carpool lane after school. Parents should enter parking lot from Nueces Street at the rectory garage and drive through the parking lot and loop around and re-enter the parking lot at the school office. See Diagram below: Afternoon Pick Up Routine Pick Up Lane B. Exit Lane Only Form 2 Lines of cars Take turns merging Into 1 line at turn PreK4 Pickup For safety reasons, parents are not to park & walk to the dismissal point to collect their child. If a parent parks and comes into the school office to pick up his/her child at 3:45pm, the student will be sent to the office.

CHANGES TO AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic School has changed its After School Care (ASC) program for the upcoming year as follows: We will continue to offer ASC (with study hall) in our main school building for grades K5 8 th until 4:30pm each day for a charge of $2.00 payable to the OLG School and billed through FACTS as needed. Parents/guardians picking up students between 4:00pm and 4:30pm, should go to the school office and the student will be sent from the ASC room. After 4:30pm each normal school day, any students still in need of ASC will be taken to the OLG Day Care via their transport. Students taken to the OLG Daycare will then be given a snack, etc. and charged an additional $6.00 payable to the OLG Daycare. Thus, families with students in lower and upper elementary grades will be able to pick up all their students in one location. The OLG Daycare is open until 6pm each school day. A detailed Student/Parent Handbook will be available on-line the first day of school to describe all our policies in detail. You will also be given a form to request a disk or hard copy of the handbook in the first blue folder.
