NEW STANDARD ELEMENTARY DISCIPLINE PROTOCOLS The homeroom teachers for Grades PreK4 4 th have designed a standardize color-coded behavior system that will be communicated daily to parents via the student s daily home communication page (e.g. weekly calendar, front of homework notebook, etc.) as follows: Green Start of Each Day, Good Behavior Because of their younger age, students in K5, that go up to Yellow, may be allowed to return to green during the same day if their good behavior warrants it. The changes in colors for students in grade 1 st 4 th, will remain and students will not return to green until the next day. Yellow 1 st Consequence for behavior issues Parents informed of the reason for the color change on the daily communication page. Students will miss 5 minutes of their next recess (it might carry over to the next day or later in the week depending on the grade and timing of the infraction). Orange 2 nd Consequence for continuing behavior issues Parents informed of the reason for the color change on the daily communication page. K5 students will miss an additional 5 minutes of their next recess break. 1 st & 2 nd students will miss their whole break at the next recess. 3 rd & 4 th students will receive lunch isolation at the next lunch period. Red 3 rd Consequence for uncorrected behavior issues Visit to the Principal Office. Principal will determine the appropriate path forward and communicate with the parents as needed. Merit Free Dress Day can be earned quarterly (once every 9 weeks) for grades K5 4 th. The homeroom teachers determine how a student in that grade can earn the Merit Free Dress Day and when the Merit Free Dress Day will occur each quarter. OLG does not participate in the federal government Free/Reduced Lunch Program. Each student served lunch at St. Jude has a lunch account in PowerSchool.
There are two ways to pay for school lunches: o Option #1: Pay in advance at the school office and PowerSchool will deduct from your student s lunch account as meals are purchased. You can monitor PowerSchool to determine when it is time to add more money to your child s account. (Note: Each student has a separate lunch account even if they are in the same family.) o Option #2: Pay via FACTS. Every 2 weeks, lunch accounts that show a negative balance (aka money is due) will have this amount sent over to the families FACTS account and the PowerSchool lunch balance will be cleared. Parents then have 10 working days to pay for their students lunch bills via FACTS. If you opt to have incidentals paid automatically within FACTS, your lunch bill will be paid automatically every two weeks! o LUNCH ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS BBQ Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Carrots, Bread, Fruit & Milk! END OF EACH DAY Standard Dismissal Time is 3:45 for grades K 8 th all students will be picked up at the DISMISSAL point which is the same as the DROP OFF point. CHANGES TO AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic School has changed its After School Care (ASC) program for the upcoming year as follows: We will continue to offer ASC (with study hall) in our main school building for grades K5 8 th until 4:30pm each day for a charge of $2.00 payable to the OLG School and billed through FACTS as needed. Parents/guardians picking up students between 4:00pm and 4:30pm, should go to the school office and the student will be sent from the ASC room. After 4:30pm each normal school day, any students still in need of ASC will be taken to the OLG Day Care via their transport. Students taken to the OLG Daycare will then be given a snack, etc. and charged an additional $6.00 payable to the OLG Daycare. Thus, families with students in lower and upper elementary grades will be able to pick up all their students in one location. The OLG Daycare is open until 6pm each school day. A detailed Student/Parent Handbook will be available on-line the first day of school to describe all our policies in detail. You will also be given a form to request a disk or hard copy of the handbook in the first blue folder.
