The Future Tense Future Progressive There are three aspects of the future tense: = action 1) Simple future 2) Future progressive 3) Future perfect (simple and progressive) now A time in the future The future progressive tense is used to describe actions that will/are going to be in progress in the future. Verb endings do not change in the future tense. You only need to use the future tense phrases will or going to show that an action or fact pertains to the future. [Subject] [will be] [verb + ing ] [Subject] [form of to be + going to be] [verb + ing ] The verb to be has an irregular conjugation: I [am] he / she /it [is] you / we / they [are] Example: He will be running two miles next week. Example: I am going to be playing in the game tomorrow. Add the word not after will and before going and the main verb to form the negative. Example: We will not be running in the race tomorrow. Example: Jason is not going to be playing guitar tonight. Directions: Write the correct form of the future progressive tense using will. 1) I (to do) my homework tomorrow. 2) Well, I guess we (to ride) the bus to work next week. 3) He (to eat) roast beef for dinner. 4) At 7:30 tonight, I (to watch) a movie. 5) I hope it (to rain) at this time tomorrow. 6) Jane not (to quit) her job on Monday. 7) My sister probably (to go) to camp this summer. Directions: Now make your own sentences using the future progressive tense. 1) 2)

The future continuous tense is used when talking about fixed appointments and/ or events that we have scheduled in the future.

The structure of the future continuous tense is :- (Subject+ will/shall/not + be +verb + ing)

WILL YOU BE WATCHING TV? THEY WILL BE PLAYING FOOTBALL SHE WILL NOT BE USING THE CAR EXAMPLES

WE USE THE FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE:-

Example:- He will be playing volleyball tomorrow.

Example:- They will be going for picnic this month.

Example:- We shall be sleeping by the time you return.

Example:- The last train will be departing at 5:30 pm.
