Regular Diploma Requirements Total Required Credits: 22 Math: 4 credits, including Algebra I, II, Geometry and a fourth higher level math course (Students must be enrolled in a mathematics course each school year.) English: 4 credits Science: 3 credits, including Biology, Chemistry or Physics, and a third lab course Social Studies: 3 credits, including U.S. History and Geography, World History and Geography, U.S. Government and Civics, and Economics Physical Education and Wellness: 1.5 credits Personal Finance: 0.5 credits (Three years of JROTC may be substituted for one-half unit of Personal Finance if the JROTC instructor attends the Personal Finance training.) Foreign Language: 2 credits (May be waived for students not going to a University to expand and enhance the elective focus) Fine Arts: 1 credit (May be waived for students not going to a University to expand and enhance the elective focus) Elective Focus: 3 credits consisting of Math and Science, Career and Technical Education, Fine Arts, Humanities, Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB)

Tennessee Promise Tennessee Promise is both a scholarship and mentoring program focused on increasing the number of students that attend college in our state. It provides students a last-dollar scholarship, meaning the scholarship will cover tuition and fees not covered by the Pell grant, the HOPE scholarship, or state student assistance funds. Students may use the scholarship at any of the state s 13 community colleges, 27 colleges of applied technology, or other eligible institution offering an associate s degree program. The Occupational Diploma is intended to have a stronger focus on vocational/career outcomes and may be useful for students with disabilities who pursue employment after exiting high school The Occupational Diploma is not a regular diploma. The pursuit of the Occupational Diploma option is an IEP team decision. The decision is made in the 10 th grade or two years prior to the student exiting high school. Occupational Diploma
Occupational Diploma Eligibility Who is Eligible for the Occupational Diploma? Students with an IEP and Students not eligible for a general education diploma and Students who graduated with a Special Education Diploma and is entitled to special education services until the student either earns a high school diploma or reaches twenty-two (22) years of age. A student with a disability who reaches twentytwo (22) years of age after the beginning of a school year continues to be entitled to special education services for the remainder of that school year.
How Do Student s Earn the Occupational Diploma? Students selected for the Occupational Diploma must successfully complete the Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Mastery Assessment (SKEMA) All 4 Required 8 of 10 Critical 2 years paid or non-paid work experience (for the pilot schools, one year work experience is required) High school students with disabilities who have not met the requirements for a regular high school diploma (full diploma) Have satisfactorily completed an individualized education plan (IEP) Have satisfactory records of attendance and conduct Students may continue to pursue their regular high school diploma while pursuing an Occupational Diploma
Special Education Diploma Requirements: Successful completion of an individualized education plan (IEP) Satisfactory records of attendance Satisfactory records of conduct Students can return to school until the age of 22 (21 inclusive) or until they receive a regular diploma.

Comprehensive Transition Program Comprehensive Transition Programs ( CTP) were initially described and defined by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008. Comprehensive Transition Programs are degree, certificate, or nondegree programs for students with intellectual disabilities that: Are offered by a college or career school and approved by the U.S. Department of Education; Are designed to support students with intellectual disabilities who want to continue academic, career, and independent living instruction to prepare for gainful employment; Offers academic advising and a structured curriculum; and; Requires students with intellectual disabilities to participate, for at least half of the program, in: Regular enrollment in credit-bearing courses with nondisabled students, Auditing or participating (with nondisabled students) in courses for which the student does not receive regular academic credit, Enrollment in noncredit-bearing, nondegree courses with nondisabled students, or Internships or work-based training with nondisabled individuals. If students with intellectual disabilities are attending a CTP, they are able to use federal financial aid to help pay the cost of attendance
