1. SUMMARY School uniform is compulsory at Our Lady of The Visitation School. The School Board is responsible for the setting of Policy and approval of changes to Policy. There are strict guidelines regarding the wearing of the uniform and what may be worn with it. Issues of health, safety, equity, school image/appearance and expense have all been considered when developing these guidelines. The OLV uniform is seasonal, defined as summer and winter uniforms. There is a two-week overlap of uniform to allow for unseasonal weather. 2. SUMMER UNIFORM (WORN IN TERMS 1 & 4) 2.1. GIRLS SUMMER UNIFORM Summer dress Navy blue socks Brown sandals or black school shoes (no heels) Jumper Black/Blue Bike shorts above the knee (optional) 2.2. BOYS SUMMER UNIFORM Short sleeve monogrammed shirt Navy blue shorts Navy blue socks Brown sandals or black school shoes Jumper 3. WINTER UNIFORM (WORN IN TERMS 2 & 3) 3.1. GIRLS WINTER UNIFORM Pinafore or skirt (Years R-7) Monogrammed long sleeve shirt Navy blue socks or navy blue tights Black school shoes (no heels) Jumper Black/Blue Bike shorts above the knee (optional) Tie (compulsory from Winter 2017) Winter Jacket for outside use only - if desired
3.2. BOYS WINTER UNIFORM Navy blue trousers (no side pockets on legs) Monogrammed long sleeve shirt Navy blue socks Black school shoes Jumper Tie (compulsory from Winter 2017) Winter Jacket for outside use only - if desired 4. SPORTS UNIFORM Sports Uniform is to be worn on the nominated class sports days, external sports events, during the week of Swimming /Aquatics lessons and as advised by the class teacher. Monogrammed navy blue track pant or rugby knit navy blue shorts (weather dependant) Long or short sleeve polo shirt White sports socks with OLV stripes Sneakers /sports shoes Sports Jacket Note: The sports jacket is available for use at outside school sports events or for sports day at school. This jacket is only to be worn with the sports uniform, effective 2017. 5. HATS A monogrammed legionnaire or bucket hat must be worn during outside activities during Terms 1 & 4 and at other times according to the UV Rating. (see Sun Smart Policy). 6. SCHOOL BAGS Monogrammed school bags form part of the school uniform. 7. UNIFORM SHOP All uniform attire and accessories are available from the uniform shop at the school. Please refer to Our Place or contact the School Administration Office on 82482480 for opening times. 8. PERSONAL APPEARANCE 8.1. HAIR Hair is to be kept neat and tidy. Shoulder length or longer hair must be tied back; this applies to girls and boys. Hair accessories such as ribbons, head bands or scrunchies are to be navy blue.
8.2. NAIL POLISH Nail polish is not to be worn at school. 8.3. MAKE UP Make-up is not to be worn at school. UNIFORM POLICY 8.4. JEWELLERY The only jewellery permitted is as follows: Watch or Fit Band Small pair of pierced earrings in plain gold or silver only Small pair of stud earrings gold or silver, may contain a small stone. No greater than 5mm in diameter. Necklace of religious significance Signet Ring 8.5 BODY ART No visual body art. 9. GOVERNANCE 9.1. RESPONSIBILITY 9.1.1. PARENTS & STUDENTS It is the responsibility of all parents and students to be aware of the policy and to adhere to the guidelines provided. 9.1.2. STAFF All staff are responsible for policing of the Uniform Policy, including the removal and safe keeping of any unapproved uniform items and informing parents of repeated non-adherence to the policy. 9.1.3. ADMINISTRATION Administration is responsible for advising the school community of any changes to the policy. 9.1.4. SCHOOL BOARD The School Board is responsible for the setting of policy and approval of changes to policy. 10. UNIFORM NON COMPLIANCE Staff will engage with any student not wearing the correct uniform and provide a slip (as below) to go home to parents/caregivers. This slip is to be signed and returned to the school. Should a student continue to attend school wearing the incorrect uniform the staff member will advise Leadership who will discuss the matter with the parents / caregivers.
