UNIVRSITY OF LINCOLN JOB DSCRIPTION JOB TITL DPARTMNT LOCATION Senior Lecturer in cology or Conservation Biology School of Life Sciences Brayford Campus JOB NUMBR COS456 GRAD 8 DAT June 2018 RPORTS TO Head of School CONTXT The School of Life Sciences was formed in 2012 and is central to the University s strategy to build its STM provision and research excellence in the sciences. Our portfolio of research and teaching covers a wide spectrum of the Life Sciences with research activity in five core groups Animal Behaviour, Cognition and Welfare; Cancer and Ageing; Diabetes, Metabolism and Inflammation; Microbiology and Biotechnology; and volution and cology. We run undergraduate degrees in Animal Behaviour and Welfare, Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Science, Bioveterinary Science, cology and Conservation and Zoology, as well as a number of MSc programmes. We are building on an internationally recognised research and teaching environment with a focus on interdisciplinary working and research-led teaching. Complementing our modern teaching laboratories we also have exceptional research facilities in the Joseph Banks Laboratories, where faculty, graduate and undergraduate project students collaborate in a well-equipped, vibrant and exciting environment. The School achieved very strong RF results with over 90% of submitted research outputs rated internationally excellent or world leading (RF 2014). Graduating students on four of our programmes have placed us first in the UK for overall satisfaction with their undergraduate experience and the quality of our teaching (NSS 2016). Our ambitions require us to continue delivering excellent research-led teaching, with world-class research supported by significant external funding. A full-time lectureship is now available in the broad areas of cology, Conservation Biology or Zoology, to support the delivery of teaching across our range of existing undergraduate modules within our BSc Biology, BSc cology and Conservation and BSc Zoology programmes. Whilst we will consider applicants from a wide range of specialisms in marine or terrestrial environments, specific experience of teaching and/or using a range of field skills, GIS and remote sensing or conservation management would be a particular advantage. We particularly encourage applications from candidates who will complement our existing strengths within the volution and cology research group (www.lincoln.ac.uk/home/lifesciences/research/evolutionandecology).
