Quick bit about me. Who am I? Matt Bailey 7 th Grade Texas History & 8 th Grade U.S. History Teacher at West Ridge Middle School in Austin, Texas. Teaching middle school history for nearly 6 years in Eanes ISD Email mbailey@eanesisd.net

Getting started Once you have logged into your own skyward teacher account, you will open any one of your classes for the subject you plan to use the online assignment. This step is only to access the online assignment templates or add assignment options in skyward. Once you have selected the course you will have an open section that will now allow the option to begin your online assignment. From this screen you have two different ways to create an online assignment.

Option 1. By selecting other access you will find the option for online assignment templates. NOTE: Online assignment templates are security driven, so make sure you have give your teachers this option in their security group. Once you have opened the Online Assignment Templates you will begin the process of creating the online assignment.

A. The name of the assignment. Ex. Ch. 4 Test B. Check box to randomize the questions for each students test to appear differently. (Same questions and answer choices) C. Check boxes for the options to Auto score and Post to Gradebook as well as the option to show correct answers once a student has completed and submitted his/her test. Tip: Go back in and check show correct answers after all your students have taken the test/assignment. D. Set the point value for questions. You have the option to change this for each question, however for an assignment with all questions valued the same this will automatically set question value to what you want. E. Click here to begin creating online assignment questions. B C A D E

B E. Save and add another question

True/False question type A. Option available for all question types. Toolbar to change fonts, text size, spacing, etc. B A C B. Check the correct answer C. Save and add another

Finishing the assignment When you have finished the final question of the assignment you will click the tab for Save and back

Completing the assignment and making any changes. C After clicking Save and back you will see this screen. From here you have the option to Add, Edit, or Delete questions. A. Options to Add, Edit, Delete. Tip: You can always come back to this and use these options B A B. Give the assignment a detailed description C. Click Save Note: Make sure to click Save one time before clicking Save and Back. This assures your work is saved as a template. After clicking Save you then need to click Save and Back. That will take you back to your templates.

The new assignment will now appear in your templates and now available to add to assignments you assign in your gradebook..

Double check to make sure the classes are selected for this assignment to be added to.

The assignment is now added to gradebook and accessible by students during the time range set when creating the online assignment. By clicking on the assignment, you will have options to edit or add to the assignment at any time, you will be able to print reports such as blank paper version of the assignment, answer key, and data analysis once students have completed the assignment

1. Select reports dropdown menu 2. A new window will appear with a new dropdown menu, and from there you can select the type of report you would like in PDF. **The next slide will show some examples

Online assignment analysis is a great way to evaluate the assignment at a glance and see what learning targets or objectives were missed the most. Chose Online Assignment Analysis from the dropdown and a new window will appear with checkbox options. Check box to only print Online assignments that have been graded and posted to the gradebook. Student results allows you to view each student s completed online assignment. See example Online Assignments Analysis report on next slide

Online assignment analysis example

Online assignments can be created through the actual assignment as well. However, this will not save the assignment in your templates. Once you select add assignment, you will choose Create Online Assignment rather than copy from My Online Assignment Template from the options dropdown menu on the right side. Once clicking on Create Online Assignment it is the same process to build the online assignment as it is when creating it as a template.

The final option for creating an online assignment is cloning from another teacher. In this option you simply need to create an assignment and choose the option clone from another teacher in the options dropdown menu. A new window will open. You can set to search for the online assignment by course, teacher name, or assignment name. Fill in the entity and proper school year. This setting can change on its own.
