OUT OF SCHOOL HOURS CARE THURSDAY 11TH & FRIDAY 12TH MAY MORNING CHANGE OF LOCATION Parents please note that the Before School Care Program will operate from the staffroom on Thursday 11th May and Friday 12th May in the morning. The children are not required to wear their school hats in Terms 2 & 3. 2018 PREP ENROLMENTS/INTERVIEWS Father Anthony and I have begun meeting with new families for Prep 2018. I ask that any existing families who have not yet submitted an application form for Prep next year please do so immediately. PARENTS ASSOCIATION HAMBURGER DAY A huge thank you to the Parents Association, in particular to Maria Tolani and her dynamic team of helpers, for their preparation and work with regard to the Hamburger Day. The day ran extremely well and the children really loved their hamburgers. SICK CHILDREN COMING TO SCHOOL I have noticed some students attending school who are ill. Could I please ask that if your child is not well to keep them at home. It is not fair to expect a child who is unwell to participate in learning activities and I am also conscious of them spreading their illness throughout the class. MESSAGES TO THE CLASSROOMS Parents are reminded that the office staff are unable to pass messages on to children during the day (unless it is an urgent message). Please ensure that your children are clear regarding pick-ups at the end of the day. Interruptions to the classrooms need to be kept to a minimum so I ask for your cooperation in this matter. PSYCHOLOGIST AT ST. FRANCIS Here at St. Francis we are continually looking to expand our services to families in the area of allied health. While we currently offer speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, a school nurse and counselling services, we are now pleased to be able to offer the services of a psychologist who will be able to conduct cognitive assessments at the school.

EUCHARIST STOLES These will be available to be picked up on Friday, 9th June. KISS & DROP As Winter is closing upon us, Kiss & Drop is busier than ever. To provide for the safety of our students and avoid congestion drivers are requested to observe the following: drivers to remain in vehicles at all times school bags to be stored in the car, not in the boot for safety reasons children to enter/exit the car from the left side passenger doors only observe the 5 KPH sign in the car park Any drivers who are unable to comply with these guidelines will be asked to make alternate arrangements for the drop off/collection of their children. OPEN DAY / WORKING BEE Once again, on Saturday we threw open the doors for prospective families to visit our school. The families were taken on tour by our fantastic Year 6 students and teaching staff. As families toured the school they interacted with the existing families who came along to get their hands dirty at our Working Bee. Thank you to the many parents who came and gave up their time on Saturday. YEAR 6 CAMP Next week our Year 6 s head to Camp Manyung at Mt. Eliza. PARENTS ASSOCIATION NEWS Hot Food Day/Hamburger Day: Hamburger and donut day was held last Thursday and the students enjoyed hamburgers and donuts. Maria Tolani would like to thank the parents who helped cooked 1,150 hamburgers and delivered 1,300 donuts. Another amazing effort from our dedicated parents and a special thank you to the St Francis staff members who helped as well. I would like to thank Maria and her team for another job well done and on time with limited assistance. If you can help please email me, Sandra Katsaros at papres@sfmillpark.catholic.edu.au with your details, including the time you can help (e.g. 9 am - 11 am, all day, etc.) If you haven t been involved before or are a new parent to the school please come along and take part in this fun day. Commonwealth Bank School Banking School Banking is every Wednesday, remember to bring in your savings and deposit books. WE NEED YOUR HELP On a final note I would like to see more parents taking part in the Parents Association. Hot Food last week would not have been possible without the support of the staff at St Francis who helped cook and assemble the hamburgers. Being a large school we need parents to help at each event or we may be forced to cancel future hot food days. I understand our time is valuable and limited however I would hate for the students to miss out. Come along and be a part of your child s school experience. Sandra Katsaros On behalf of the St Francis of Assisi Parents Association
