What s on the 2014 List? 40 of the 70 non-gcse quals in 5A*-C are Edexcel s incl. 24 BTECs QCF Level 2 BTEC Firsts are on the List in the Extended Certificate (180glh) and Diploma (360glh) sizes for the following subjects: Applied Science Sport IT Business Health & Social Care Engineering g Art& Design Performing Arts Construction Creative Media Production Music Travel & Tourism These BTECs will be recognised in 2014 headline measures under the year of grace If any of the new 120glh Awards (Phase 1 subjects) are accredited by 2 March, they will be added d to the final version of the 2014 List, to be published in March

Quality Assurance of assessors of learners of centres Support and standardisation 100% of assessors sampled within a teaching cycle External Assessment 100% of flearners have their work independently assessed Personal visits 100% of BTEC centres, every year

Quality Assurance Lead Internal Verifier role Standardisation and sampling process for QCF and NG BTECs are entirely separate - but annual QRD visit will encompass both The LIV has overall responsibility for the assessment of a BTEC programme within a centre (as now) LIVs must register and undergo standardisation and training via OSCA will need to update this for NG BTECs, although no test LIVs are required to use the OSCA materials to standardise/train the Assessors on the national standard (new requirement) General LIV training from May-12 onwards; OSCA materials from Sep-12 Where there is no LIV in place by Sep-12, centres must submit assignments for sign-off by Edexcel (SV or ACS)

Quality Assurance Sampling In a 2-year programme you should expect every BTEC Assessor to have to submit a sample for verification Sample sizes will be larger than is currently the case BTEC NG will be sampled independently of QCF quals SVs will be in contact in Dec/Jan; sampling will take place Jan-Apr 2013 OSCA No longer a test; t helps you understand d the national assessment standard d Materials live from Sep-12 onwards; sample, graded learner work across all grades for core units, and a range of grades across optional units

Quality Assurance Assignment Checking Service Free service available from Sept-Apr every academic year to help centres with creation of fit-for-purpose p BTEC assignment briefs Assignments submitted will be reviewed by a trained subject expert and feedback given within a week In addition there will be increased SV support for feedback on assignments as required via phone and email QRD Visit One visit per centre per year (as now) Internal process to train Assessors will be audited (new)
