BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree combines theory with practical applications to prepare you for your future. You will be engaged in relevant, hands-on business courses from day one in our four-year program. This equips you with the foundational knowledge and skills to learn higher level theory and applications for the real world. Honours An Honours designation is recognized by industry and university graduate schools as the highest level undergraduate degree. This is your opportunity to work closely with an organization to develop a business research project and gain experience in consulting and decision-making. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION DIPLOMA The Business Administration diploma provides you with a comprehensive understanding of business practices. This two-year program can fast track your career while providing you with the opportunity to link directly to the four-year BBA degree. You can choose to graduate with a general diploma or focus your studies in one of the six areas of study. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION CERTIFICATES Our certificate programs serve the needs of part-time students who wish to obtain training and certification in specific areas of business. This program focuses on the courses needed as prerequisites to enter into the CPA Professional Education Program. Marketing The Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Marketing allows you to tap into your creative side. ACCOUNTING SPECIALTY Do you speak the language of numbers? The accounting specialty provides you with a strong set of problem-solving, communication, and inter-personal skills, in addition to the accounting and managerial skills required for today s complex and evolving business environment. Key areas of study include financial and managerial accounting, income tax, cost accounting and auditing. Graduating with the accounting specialty, you can find employment in many segments of the economy, including industry, public accounting, education, government and the not-for-profit sector. PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION We offer all prerequisite courses for students seeking the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) designation. By including the prescribed courses within your BBA degree, you are ready for the professional program. INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT Focus on investment management courses that can lead you toward the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. I chose the Finance specialty because I have always had an interest in how money works. I feel that financial management, saving and investing are areas that too many people don t know enough about. When I graduate, I would like to use my knowledge and skills to educate those people. Charles Sherman Business Administration Diploma l Second Year Finance Specialty Charles plans to bridge into the BBA Honours program, with a goal of pursuing the CFP and CFA designations. He competed in the 2017 Western Canadian Business Competition, and will study in Germany next year as part of the Study Abroad program. 9

I chose the Okanagan School of Business for the numerous specialties offered, small class sizes, accessible instructors and the outstanding reputation it has nationally. Mitchell Folk BBA l Third Year Management Specialty Mitchell s career ambition is to pursue further studies in law school, specializing in business law.

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT SPECIALTY Do you want to create a cohesive organizational environment wherever you work? The human resources management (HRM) specialty provides you with knowledge and skills that focus on human behaviour in the workplace. Key areas of study include recruitment and selection, training and development, compensation and benefits, employment law, health and safety, and strategic HR planning. Graduating with the human resources management specialty prepares you to pursue a career as a specialist in a variety of HR fields or a more broadly based HR career. PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION A degree with a human resources management specialty can lead to your Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation. Our HRM specialty area has recently been accredited by CPHR British Columbia & Yukon. A student graduating with a 70 per cent average in the human resources management specialty area will be provided an exemption from the National Knowledge Exam (NKE), the first step towards your professional CPHR designation. COMMERCIAL AVIATION Commercial Aviation Diploma The Commercial Aviation Diploma (CoAv) is offered in partnership with Southern Interior Flight Centre (SIFC). This twoyear program integrates the flight training required by Transport Canada with business administration courses applicable to the aviation industry. The diverse terrain and weather in the Okanagan Valley provides a challenging and unrivalled training environment. Okanagan College and SIFC continue to strengthen ties with industry partners to create the best possible opportunities for students, such as: Air Canada Award the top student each year receives a trophy, along with two return airfare tickets and the ability to add the award to their resume when they apply at Air Canada. Jazz Aviation Pathways Program (APP) Jazz APP helps graduating pilots land careers with the national airline, either directly after graduation, or later when application requirements are met. Okanagan College is one of the first aviation schools in Western Canada to offer the APP program. The experienced instructors at Okanagan College taught me essential skills that I will take with me throughout my flying career. The best testament of my training is that I was hired as a SIFC instructor immediately after graduating, and within a year was afforded growth opportunities within the company and to fly a Metroliner. Administrative Assistant Certificate Obtain the skills you need to begin your career as an administrative professional. As a graduate of this program, you will be equipped with the business, communication and technical skills required by today s employers. Accounting/Bookkeeping Certificate (Kelowna campus only) Become an accounting assistant or bookkeeper in a variety of businesses. Accounting Assistant Certificate (Online only) Learn accounts payable/receivable, payroll and general bookkeeping to prepare you for a career as an accounting assistant or a bookkeeper for small, medium and large companies.
