Degree Courses for the seats reserved for Other State Candidates in University Departments of Anna University for the academic year 2018 2019. Information and Instructions to Candidates 1. Application Number generated during Registration is the Registration Number for B. E. / B. Tech. / B. Arch. Degree Courses 2018. This number should be written in all the enclosures. 2. ALLOCATION OF SEATS 2.1. Fifty seats (including 1 seat for Kashmiri Migrant) are reserved for B. E. / B. Tech. Degree Courses in University Departments of Anna University, Chennai-25. 2.2. Two seats are reserved for B. Arch. Degree Course in University Department of Anna University, Chennai-25. 2.3. A candidate needs to register only once for all the courses mentioned above. 2.4. Duration of the Programme B. E. / B. Tech. 4 Academic years comprising of 8 semesters B. Arch. 5 Academic years comprising of 10 semesters 3. ELIGIBILITY General Applicant should be a citizen of India but not a native of Tamil Nadu. A certificate of Permanent residence in the format given in Certificate I should be uploaded (English version only will be accepted). Candidates satisfying the eligibility conditions given below as on the last date of submission of applications are eligible to apply. Passing the qualifying examination after the last date of submission of application shall not be considered. 4. ELIGIBILITY FOR B. E. / B. Tech. 4.1. Minimum Qualification A pass in HSC (Academic) or its equivalent with a minimum average percentage in the relevant subjects as prescribed in item No. 4.2. OR Any other equivalent qualification with relevant subjects approved by the Higher Secondary Board of Tamil Nadu. 1

4.2. Minimum Eligibility Marks CANDIDATES OF HSC (Academic) AND OTHER EQUIVALENT EXAMINATIONS Sl. No. Community Minimum average marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together 1. (st) No. 143 HE (J2) Dept. dt: 06.05.2008 improvement marks obtained by the candidates from 2006 onwards will not be considered. 4.3. Mining Engineering Branch Note to Female candidates opting for Mining Engineering course. (1) As per Mines Act 1952, 46 (1) no woman shall, notwithstanding anything contained in any other law, be employed (a) in any part of a mine which is below ground; (b) In any mine above ground except between the hours of 6 A.M. and 7 P.M (2) As per Coal Mines Regulation 1957, 86 (2) no adolescent or woman shall descent or ascend a shaft in a cage or other means of conveyance unless accompanied by one or more adult males. (3) They should satisfy the academic norms of Anna University. 4.4. MODE OF SELECTION FOR B. E. / B. Tech. Ranking is based on the academic marks obtained in the prescribed subjects in the qualifying examination reduced to 200 (Mathematics 100 -- Physics + Chemistry -- 100). An overall merit list will be prepared based on the total marks of 200. In cases where more than one candidate have got the same marks in the common merit list, the inter-se merit among such candidates shall be determined in the order of priority as follows. (1) Percentage of marks obtained in Mathematics, (2) Percentage of marks obtained in Physics, (3) Percentage of marks obtained in the fourth optional subject and (4) Date of Birth (elder will be given preference). 2

The overall rank, region wise rank and Community-wise rank lists will be published in Anna University website http://www.annauniv.edu/otherstate2018. Details will not be published in Newspapers. Candidates should download the call letter in the above website, separate call letter will not be sent. The campus and the branch will be provisionally allotted only through counselling. Branches will be allotted as per overall rank. 5. ELIGIBILITY FOR B. Arch. Qualifying Examinations 1. HSC Academic / Equivalent Candidates who have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects. Minimum Eligibility Marks General SC/ST Category Category 50 % marks in 45 % marks in 2. Diploma Candidates who have passed 10+3 year Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central / State Governments. 3. Candidates who appeared in NATA 2018 may apply for admission on the basis of valid NATA score obtained. 5.3. MODE OF SELECTION FOR B. Arch. The selection of candidates will be based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and also in the NATA conducted by the Council of Architecture. The candidates should submit a copy of the mark sheet along with the application. Those who have not appeared and passed in NATA are not eligible for B. Arch. Degree course. 3

HSC Academic/Diploma/Equivalent The total academic marks for HSC (Academic/Equivalent) will be reduced to 200. For Diploma candidates the academic marks in all the semesters put together will be reduced to 200. The maximum mark for NATA is 200. Ranking of the candidates will be based on 400 marks (NATA mark - 200 and Academic mark - 200). A merit list will be prepared based on the total marks of 400. In cases where more than one candidate have got the same marks in the common merit list, the inter-se-merit among such candidates shall be determined in the order of priority as given below. (1) Academic Aggregate for 200 marks (2) Date of Birth (elder will be given preference). The overall rank and community-wise rank lists will be published in Anna University, Chennai website http://www.annauniv.edu/otherstate2018. Details will not be published in Newspapers. Candidates should download the call letter from the above website, separate call letter will not be sent. 6. E./B. Tech. seats is reserved for different states and UT and are grouped region wise as shown in Annexure II. 6.2 Kashmiri migrant seat will be reverted to Northern Region quota if there is no applicant. 6.3 ALLOCATION OF SEAT FOR B. Arch. Only two seats are reserved for all the regions. 4

7. COUNSELLING OF CANDIDATES 7.1 Candidates will be called for counselling in the order of their merit. Based on the merit and communal reservation, the branch/campus chosen by the candidate will be allotted. Candidates have to opt for campus and branches that are available at the time of counselling. 7.2 Candidates have to pay an initial deposit of 5000/- through online payment and produce all the original certificates during counselling. 7.3 If a candidate has deposited all the certificates in an Institution where he/she has already been admitted, a bonafide letter from the Head of the Institution should be produced to that effect. In such cases only, copies of certificates attested only by the Head of the Institution shall be accepted for verification. However, the provisional allotment order will be withheld and it will be released only on production of all the original certificates. 7.4 Eligible candidates who have applied may appear for counselling according to their cut-off mark, two hours before the counselling session on the dates given in the downloaded counselling call letter along with their original certificates for verification. CHOICE ONCE MADE IS FINAL AND CANNOT BE CHANGED. The date, time and venue for counselling will be published in Anna University, Chennai 25 website. Change of date/time of counselling is not permissible. Candidates who do not attend the counselling have to forego the claim for admission. Due to unforeseen and unavoidable reasons, if a candidate is unable to attend the counselling on the specified date and time, he/she can authorise (by a letter) his/her parent on his/her behalf and the parent s decision will be binding on the candidate. Once allotted a seat, 5,000/- already paid at the time of counselling will be adjusted towards the tuition fee. If a candidate does not join after allotment and seeks refund, only 80 % of the initial deposit amount paid at the time of counselling will be refunded, if original allotment order with acknowledgement for the receipt of payment is surrendered on or before 31.12.2018. 8. REGISTRATION NUMBER FOR ADMISSION 8.1 Application number generated in the application is the Registration Number for Admission 2018. 9. PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION OF APPLICATION 1. Candidate should apply only through Online in the web portal www.annauniv.edu/otherstate2018. In the website the candidate can go to the online application portal by clicking the link. 2. The candidate should use a valid and functional e-mail id and a valid and functional mobile number for registration of online application. This email id and mobile number must be maintained active, as all the communications to the candidates will be sent only to the registered e-mail id and mobile number. 5

3. The candidate must be ready with the details such as Marks, Percentage of Marks, Certificates, Year of Passing, Board / Institute Scanned image of their photograph with prescribed file size / resolution etc. Scanned copy of mark sheet / Transfer / Migration Certificate / Permanent Residence Certificate and Community Certificate for SC/ST and other relevant certificates if any before applying through online. An application without any one of the relevant certificate or mark sheet will be rejected. 4. Candidates are required to upload their photograph as per the specifications given in the guidelines for scanning. An online application uploaded without photograph will be rejected. 5. Mode of Payment: The candidate should pay the Registration fee as detailed below only through online payment. (a) B.E./B.Tech. only 500/- (b) Only B.Arch. 500/- (c) B. E. /B. Tech. and B. Arch. 1000/- 6. After entering all the details, choose save / submit button. The entered details can be viewed, in cases if any changes are to be made, the applicant can make the changes. After this the candidate should click submit and save button. The candidate need not send the printout of the online application or any other documents. The original certificates / Mark sheets / Permanent Residence Certificate, etc. will be verified only when the candidate appears for counselling. Therefore, more care has to be taken while entering the data, if any of the information given in the online application is found false or bogus during verification of original certificates, the application shall be summarily rejected and suitable disciplinary action will be initiated. 7. The applications received directly other than the online application portal will not be considered and they will be rejected. 8. Only short listed candidates will be called for counselling. PAYMENT BY ANY OTHER MODE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The last date for registration and submission of application is 07.07.2018 (5.30 p.m.) 10. GENERAL 10.1. The candidates are required to upload only the self attested photocopies of the following along with the application: (i) Recently taken photograph (ii) Mark sheet (All appearance) of HSC or Equivalent Examination (iii) Mark Sheet of X Standard (iv) Transfer Certificate / Migration Certificate (v) Community Certificate (for SC/ST candidates) (vi) Permanent Residence Certificate (vii) NATA mark sheet and Hall Ticket (for B. Arch. only) (viii) Signature 6

10.2. The candidates have to report to the Dean of the campus to which they are allotted within the time notified in the Provisional Allotment Order, failing which the provisional allotment order will stand automatically cancelled. No request for reconsideration of admission shall be entertained. 10.3. Selected candidates and their parents/ guardians will have to give a joint declaration in the form provided. This declaration should be given to the Dean of the campus at the time of admission. 10.4. Candidates should ensure that correct marks are furnished by him/her in his/her application. If it is found that the marks furnished by him/her in the application are not correct, then he/she will forfeit the admission at any stage of study. 10.5. The candidates are informed that admission given at the time of counselling will only be Provisional. In accordance with rules prescribed for admission, if they are found ineligible on verification of original certificates / particulars by the Dean / University, they cannot claim any right for admission or continuation of study at any stage. Further, the confirmation of Admission is subject to verification of marks / certificates by the authorities. If the mark sheet is found to be not a genuine one, (i) Admission is liable for cancellation at any stage of study (ii) The candidate will be debarred from pursuing any course of study for a period of 3 years (iii) Legal action will be taken against the candidate for furnishing forged marks 11. General Instructions 1. Commencement of Online Registration 20.06.2018 2. Last date for Registration and submission 07.07.2018 11.1. Allotted candidates will be given the provisional allotment order and receipt for 5000/-. The remaining tuition fee has to be paid in the colleges before the date specified in the provisional allotment order. If a candidate fails to report for admission on or before the date indicated in the provisional allotment order he/she has to forfeit the seat and cannot claim later. Selection of the college and the course is the sole responsibility of the candidate. 11.2. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES THE CAMPUS OR BRANCH ALLOTTED WILL BE CHANGED. 11.3. For any correspondence, quote the Registration Number as generated in the printout application. 11.4. The State of Permanent Residence of a candidate s guardian will be taken into account only if both the parents of the candidate are dead. The relationship of the guardian to the candidate should also be mentioned. If both the parents are alive, only the State of Permanent Residence of father should be taken into account. 8

JOINT DECLARATION BY THE CANDIDATE AND PARENT / GUARDIAN (This should not be enclosed along with the application. It should be submitted at the time of admission) I hereby solemnly and sincerely affirm 1. That the Statements made and information furnished in my son s / daughter s / ward s application and also in all the enclosures there to submitted by him/her are true. Should it however be found that any information furnished therein is untrue in material particulars, I realize that I am liable to criminal prosecution and I also agree to the forfeiture of his/her seat in the Institution. 2. That my son / daughter / ward would confirm strictly to all the rules and regulations in force now or which may be introduced in the Institution hereafter and that I realize that breach of discipline and rules on my son s/daughter s/ward s part would entail summarily forfeiture of his/her seat in the institution. 3. That I am aware that if my son /daughter / ward does not put in a minimum percentage of attendance prescribed by the University during the year in theory, drawing and practical classes separately, my son /daughter / ward will not be sent for the University Examination. 4. That I am aware that the curriculum for the various courses is not rigid and that my son /daughter /ward will follow the syllabi for the various courses in force at the time of his/her admission and that any revision or modification made in the syllabi during the course of his/her study in the Institution will be binding on him/her. 5. That I am aware that if my son /daughter /ward does not get a minimum of 50 per cent of marks in the day to day valuation of his/her work and progress he/she will not be sent for the University Examination. 6. That in case of my son s/daughter s/ward s progress in studies is uniformly poor in the Institution his/her studies are liable to be terminated by the issue of Transfer Certificate. 7. That in case my son/daughter/ward becomes a scholarship holder or comes to enjoy educational concessions like half-fee, or full-fee etc., and does not show special progress, the scholarships or educational concessions are liable to be cancelled and that if my son s/daughter s/ward s conduct and character are not good these will be cancelled. 8. That my son/daughter/ward is aware that breach of discipline and rules or bad conduct in the N.C.C. or extra-curricular activities will also entail summarily forfeiture of seat in the Institution, in addition to such other proceedings that may be taken against him/her. 9. That I am aware that if my son/daughter/ward is admitted into the hostel he/she will strictly abide by the rules and regulations in force in the hostel and that any breach of discipline or rules or any unruly conduct or undesirable activities will be summarily dealt with by forfeiture of seat both in the hostel and in the institution in addition to such other proceedings that may be taken against him/her. 10.
