PREPARATORY COURSE FOR SINGAPORE Cambridge GCE O Level Introduction Cert No: EDU-2-2069 Validity: 19/11/2015-18/11/2019 CPE Registration No.: 201005229W CPE Registration Period: 30 Nov 2016 to 29 Nov 2020 This course aims to provide learners a comprehensive programme that equips students with the necessary competencies required for the annual Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) examinations (GCE O Level). The course will adhere to the syllabus and requirements set by The Ministry of Education, Singapore and the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). These two agencies are the joint examining authorities for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level examination. All the classes are conducted in a small class setting of not more than 15 students. Objective The learning objective of this course is primarily to familiarise students on the topics of the offered subjects. The main focus is still English Language; therefore, the course will focus more on English Language. This short course will be suitable for : 1. Students who wanted to take up the full time course but pending the application of student pass. They will take up the short course for up to maximum of 4 weeks so they will not miss out lessons for this intensive program. 2. Students who want to trial the course. *English Language and Mathematics are compulsory for all students. **Combined Science (choice of any 2) All the subjects will be taught simultaneously throughout the terms. Students have to choose minimum of 5 subjects. However, students may choose to take maximum of 6 O level subjects with additional course fee. Students also have the option to take the 2 nd Language examination on their own. Mode of learning (classroom / laboratory / online / etc) Traditional Classroom delivery will be employed for this course for most of the subjects. For Combined Science, laboratory would be used for practicum training. Reference materials We will be using textbooks, workbooks and reference books from Cambridge University Press or other major publishers in the market deemed suitable by the Academic Department. Course learning outcomes This course aims to provide students a comprehensive programme that equips students with the necessary competencies required for the annual GCE O Level examinations. The course will adhere to the syllabus and requirements of the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB). Minimum entry requirements Applicants must: Be above 15 years of age as of 1st January of the year of enrolment Have successfully completed Junior High School, Secondary 2 or its equivalent Meet requirements of English and Mathematics Pre-Admission tests. Applicants who are holding results of GCE O Level / IGCSE O Level/ Singapore (or equivalent) Secondary 3/ Singapore (or equivalent) Secondary 4 Prelim Results are exempted from taking the Pre-admission tests. Results other than the above mentioned, eg. Secondary 2 will need to do preadmission tests. * Students who do not meet the requirements will be asked to take additional English classes (at extra costs to students). **For Singapore Citizens, approval from MOE is required before students can be admitted into the course. Award Criteria Long Term Course : A Certificate of Attainment will be awarded to students who fulfill the following criteria: Completion of the course Student had obtained an overall 90% of attendance Student had not been absent from the course for 7 consecutive days without a valid reason Attend more than 50% of the course duration Holding a valid Student Pass * MOE, Singapore and University of Cambridge International Examinations (O level Certificate) will be awarded when student take the GCE Examination. Not applicable. A progress report will be given if the period of study falls within our reporting period. Promotion / Progression GCE O Level is an internationally recognized qualification to gain admission to higher education. However, for this Preparatory course, there is no internal promotion progress path within Zesprion at this moment. Page 4 of 9

Text Books: Short Term students will receive the same text books as the Long Term students. If same text books are not available, the school reserves the rights to replace with similar value / content books. Admission Procedure Pre-Course Counselling Potential students/parents are briefed according to the precourse counselling checklist. Students/parents or guardian acknowledge on the pre-course counselling form. Pre-Admission Test Student sits for Pre-Admission Test (English and Mathematics Tests) according to the course the student wants to enter. Student must satisfy the entry requirement for the course. Payment for Course Fee All payments must be made before the payment due date or course start date, whichever is earlier. Late payment fee will be applicable if course are not received within 5 working days of the scheduled due date as indicated in the student contract schedule B.
