Year 7 News MONBULK COLLEGE NEWS Congratulations to all the Year 7 students on a fantastic start to Secondary School in Term 1. In general, the Year 7 s have been terrific in terms of getting organised, completing work, involving themselves in all aspects of College life and most importantly putting in their best effort. Term 1 was a very busy one, with students participating in events such as the Phillip Island Camp, Year 7 BBQ, Working Bee, Swimming Sports, Division Swimming, SRC, Music Lessons, Lunchtime Volleyball Comp, Division Volleyball, College Production Auditions and Rehearsals, Open Night and Primary School Visits. So far this term we have had our Student Progress Conferences and the College Cross Country at Silvan Dam last Friday. It was great see so many of the Year 7 s and parents at the Student Progress Conferences. The conferences combined with the students interim reports (available on Compass) are a great way to see where the students are doing well and what they need to do to continue to improve. The Year 7 teachers have been very impressed with the effort and attitude of the Year 7 s and look forward to another productive term in Term 2. Year 7 students need to keep in mind the College expectations and fully understand our SOL system. Students must complete work on time, be organised and not be late to class. Being organised includes: wearing correct uniform (including plain black leather shoes and socks), use of planner, keeping a tidy locker, and bringing the correct equipment to each class. Year 7 Sports Wrap Swimming, Cross Country & Volleyball It has been a busy start to the year on the sporting scene. -It was fantastic to see so many Year 7 s attend, cheer and compete at the Monbulk College Swimming Carnival last term. Congratulations to: All in Forest / Gold House (7D) for winning the House Competition and to our Individual Age Champions: Scarlett Evans and Sam Fraser and to Ripleigh Hayes (Biathlon winner). -Late last term our Year 7 s won both the boys and girls Division Volleyball and the squads are training hard for the Vic Schools Cup next term. picture below. -Our school Cross Country was held at Silvan Dam last week. Well done to all the Year 7 s for their fantastic participation and to 7D again (Forest) for winning the House shield. The top 10 place getters move on to the Division Cross Country on the 11 th May. Above: Four Year 7 teams competed at the Year 7 Division Volleyball competition with both our boys and girls team winning through to the Eastern Region Finals in Term 4. 4
