Ealing Law School Legal Practice Course (LPC)

Why study a postgraduate degree? A postgraduate degree can enhance your career prospects, setting you apart in today s highly competitive job market. If you are considering a new career path, it is an opportunity to enhance and build on your current qualifications, and learn new and essential skills. You may also want to explore your passion and commitment to a particular field of study. Whatever your reasons, studying a postgraduate degree at the University of West London doesn t mean you have to put your life on hold, or leave the workplace. We have a wide range of full and part-time study options that can fit around your current commitments. Studying a postgraduate degree will increase your network of contacts and help you gain valuable insights into industry, that you might not gain from the workplace alone. Taught course or research degree? Choosing which is the right option for you depends on the subject you wish to study and the career path you want to follow. Taught courses are led by a tutor, and you attend weekly seminars and lectures. There is some independent learning, but not as much as a research degree. The two main types of taught courses are masters degrees and postgraduate diplomas. Like undergraduate degrees, these are divided into modules and usually take one year full-time or two years part-time to complete, with assessment by exam or dissertation. Research degrees rely on independent study with a few hours support each week from an academic. The best known research degree is the PhD, which can last three to four years full-time, or six years part-time. Students are asked to present new knowledge in a research project or thesis, typically 40,000 words or more.

Why choose the University of West London? The University of West London (UWL) is a vibrant university in the heart of London, proud to provide high quality, specialist education that helps students become creative professionals, connecting them to varied and rewarding careers. We give students of all ages and backgrounds access to teaching and academic experience of the highest standard from accessible, supportive and encouraging staff. UWL offers students excellent work placements, and has links with major organisations such as Apple, Hewlett Packard, Hilton Hotels, Oracle and Microsoft. You can study many of our postgraduate courses part-time, giving you the flexibility to develop your education around other commitments. You can study for a postgraduate degree in a different discipline to your bachelor s, without having to complete a full bachelor s degree in the relevant subject area. We ve also been recognised for the quality of our courses in many subject areas, and we re the only university to win the Queen s Anniversary Prize for outstanding achievement and excellence in hospitality education. What s more, the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) comprehensively praised our high academic quality and standards, the level of support and guidance we give students, and our success in meeting the requirements of professional bodies. Our state-of-the-art teaching and learning centre, the Savoy Suite, is designed especially for postgraduate students.

What graduates and employers say London College of Hospitality and Tourism The school is incredibly well equipped, a wonderful place to work, but I would say most importantly of all, it really does motivate the students. Heston Blumenthal, Chef London College of Music My project led me to starting up my own company on leaving. I can highly recommend the courses and the campus production facilities are fantastic. Ryan Wilkins, graduate Ealing Law School The quality of the course is very impressive, from the detailed feedback to the tutors unlimited patience. Although very difficult, the LPC has been the most rewarding experience I ve ever had. Sophie De Canson, Qualified Solicitor College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare The MSc Advanced Practice is a fantastic course and enabled our staff in acute care to gain the academic and professional accreditation as an advanced practitioner. Edwin Dela Cruz, Head of Faculty of Nursing, West Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust School of Computing and Technology Having worked in the IT industry for 10 years, I had experience, but lacked a formal background that could strengthen my career. The University of West London filled the gaps in the skills I needed and a clear vision of success was always present. Graduate London School of Film, Media and Design The MA prepared me for professional work in many ways. The way I conduct myself and interact with people, how I professionally present my work and how to always seek to improve, alongside deep technical experience and knowledge. Jon Gordon, graduate The Claude Littner Business School One of the things I valued most about doing my MBA was the diversity of our cohort and the opportunity to exchange rich experiences and views with people working in different sectors and industries. Radovan Manko, Part-time MBA School of Psychology, Social Work and Human Sciences Guided by fantastic lecturers, I absorbed a great deal of knowledge and acquired many practical skills which I now use in my work for stop smoking services. Weronika Suszynska, MSc Health Psychology
