Placement Exams vs Admissions Exams Placement Exams Exam such as TSI are exams considered placement exams, as they are used by the institution to place students in proper college level coursework Only valid instrument for placement exams in Texas is the TSI Admissions Exams Entrance exams such as SAT and ACT are exams required for most colleges and universities as a form of admission TSI scores cannot take the place of an Admissions exam such as ACT 4/1/2016 Connection Entry Progress Completion3
TSI Exemptions
House Bill 5: TSI Prep Course Given to 12 th Graders whose TSI scores indicate the student is not ready for entry level college courses Student is exempt from TSI requirements with respect to content area Only applies to the institution of IHE who partners with ISD s Valid for 2 years after course completions
