Robert Stansbury Region 12 President Member No. 300 Your Region 12 officers attended the annual mid-winter business meeting of WBCCI just a few days after running a successful Rose Parade Rally in Pasadena. My expenses were covered by WBCCI. Our members voted to cover Tom Smithson s expenses from Region 12 funds. Jim Polk felt the meeting was important and served on the Nominating Committee, so he paid his own way to Louisiana. Sixteen motions were presented that week, and all of them were passed. Considering the glacial pace at which things move in our club, this was an unprecedented outcome. Your officers were key figures in making legislative changes that will streamline the functions of the club. Many board member meetings and seminars The Gold and Silver Region Review WBCCI Region 12 Newsletter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ International Board of Trustees Meeting January 2014 Rayne, Louisiana were held to arrive at this conclusion. Once you understand the complexity and rigidness of the Constitution that governs WBCCI, you must take steps to be patient and deliberate as you attempt to modernize it. Though these changes are minor, we are excited that the board as a whole is working in unison. We have spoken through our votes to the membership, to our employees, and to the Airstream Corporation. Here is a brief description of each motion. Some of them require a vote of the delegates at the Gillette rally. Please make sure your unit has a representative to vote for you there. 1. International units will be represented by an existing Region of WBCCI. 2. International units will organize as a non-profit group. 3. We are combining the Public Relations and Rally Promotions Committees. 4. We ratified a name change from the Down Under Unit to Airstream Club Australia. 5. Members in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan will become part of Region 7. 6. We approved a new unit in Region 3, the Southeast Camping Club. 7. We approved a new flag for the Southeast Camping Club. 8. We changed the duties for the Historical Committee by a substitution of responsibilities. 9. We will now list the number of people attending functions, as well as the number of Airstreams. 10. We voted to expand the dates that the International Rally can be held to between June 20 and July 30. This requires a delegate vote in Gillette. 11. We made a large change in the bylaws concerning the International Rally (Sections 7 and 8) by substituting an entirely new policy (authored by Tom Smithson). 12. We voted to allow electronic renewal of unit and International dues. This requires a delegate vote in Gillette. 13. We now require a roll-call vote on each motion that is not unanimous. This only affects the International Board. This records the vote of each officer so the members know how their representatives voted. 14. We streamlined the method for replacing Region Vice Presidents in case of resignations. 15. We reinstated the News and Views electronic newsletter. 16. We removed the $45,000 line item for Headquarters Services from the International Rally Budget. This will result in a potential reduction in rally fees.

ABQ Balloon Rally (too hard to spell New Mexico s largest city) The Four Corners unit of WBCCI has been putting on this rally for several years. What have been improving each year are the number of rigs in attendance and the location of the rally. This year, we were in the best location you could possibly have. Two hundred Airstreams were in attendance, perched just above the flight grounds. You literally had to walk a few yards and cross a bridge to become involved with the 500+ balloons from around the world that were participating. The night before, the Airstreams are camped around Albuquerque. Then, between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, the rigs are parked and set up Region 12 Website http://region12.wbcci.net/ Bob and Cecelia Stansbury at new dealer Bay Area Airstream Adventures in Fairfield (dry camping) for four days. Every morning and evening, there are activities with the balloons; and there is a carnival-style midway set up around the perimeter of the flight grounds. This event runs for ten days at the beginning of October. What is so fun about this event is the ability to participate in the activities by attendees. You can help fill up the balloons, chase the balloons, roll up and put away the balloons, and even get a ride. The beauty and colors that are displayed are hard to describe. Cecelia and I believe that everyone should attempt to participate in this event at least once in their lives. Region 12 Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/ groups/wbcciregion12/ 2014-2015 Region Rallies and Passport America You have probably noticed that the next two Region Rallies for Region 12 will be held in the state of Nevada. I wonder if the fact that Bob Stansbury is a Nevada resident has anything to do with that. Oh well, at least the RV parks are close to the California border. Anyway, there will be a significant change in the rally fee for these events. In the past, we have included the RV parking fee from the park in the price of the rally. We will not be doing this in Nevada because there is a significant discount available if you are a member of Passport America. Lakeside RV Park in Pahrump and Silver City RV Park in Carson City both charge $40 per night to stay there. This would normally eliminate them from consideration as sites for Region Rallies. However, if you are a member of Passport America, they will reduce the fee to $20 per night for several nights of the rally. Now that puts them in our league for events. I am asking you to study the information at http://passport america.com/ and learn about this opportunity. Cecelia and I have used our membership extensively across the country and have stayed at great places for 50% off the going rate. The $44 annual membership can be easily recovered if you just stay 2 nights at the Region Rally. The $79 two-year membership is an even better value. Remember: When you attend the next two Region Rallies, you will book your site with the RV park and pay a separate rally fee.

February 3-9, 2014: The HOBO Rally will catch the final bus out of Blythe, California, and head on down memory lane after the church service on Sunday, February 9. What began at Lost Lake RV Park 55 years ago and then moved to Blythe 33 years ago will be no more. Our membership has spoken by their lack of attendance at this event. It became too difficult to put on this rally when fewer rigs showed up than could be found at a weekend rally. Next year we will be putting on the CALI Rally. October 14-19, 2014: The Region 12 Rally in Pahrump, Nevada, is going to be fantastic. Lakeside RV Park is one of the nicest venues we have been to. We have booked some great talent for performances, including Elvis. Donnie Edwards is the only tribute artist ever to perform at Graceland. From the top of Mount Charleston to Furnace Creek in Death Valley, this location is only one hour from Las Vegas and offers some great sightseeing and entertainment. 2014-2015 Region 12 Events December 28, 2014-January 1, 2015: The National Rose Parade Rally has generated so much interest this January that we have booked 58 seats for this event already. The 2014 Rally was a great success, so I would recommend that you sign up soon before it is sold out. THIS IS A DRY CAMPING EVENT. April 16-19, 2015: The CALI Rally will be our newest rally. It will held at Camatta Ranch, which is between Interstate 5 and Highway 101 east of Atascadero, California. This facility is larger than the city of San Francisco and houses cattle, an African animal breeding facility, petroglyphs, caves and miles of hiking trails. THIS IS A DRY CAMPING EVENT and will include meals and a bluegrass music competition. Watch for more information on the Region 12 website. October 6-11, 2015: The Region 12 Rally this year will be at the Silver City RV Park in Minden, Nevada (Carson City). We will have activities at Lake Tahoe, Reno, Virginia City, the Nevada State Museum and Mint, the Nevada State Railroad Museum and the V&T Railroad. Basque family dining, the Nevada State Capitol and Legislature, and a tour of the Mound House redlight district will also be included. Of course, there will also be a Region 12 business meeting at the Fuji Park Exhibit Hall in Carson City. The Stansbury and Hampel Mansions in Carson City and Minden, respectively, will also be open for tours. Please mark your calendars and join us for all this fun, inspired by your decision to buy an Airstream product and join WBCCI. The Region 12 Gang Royal Hobo Court
