St Catherine of Siena T: 9743 2166 E: principal@scmeltonwest.catholic.edu.au W: www.scmeltonwest.catholic.edu.au NEWSLETTER Term 3, Week 6 August 19th 2016 Dear Families Reflection God of our journey, we pray that you be in our minds so that we may think of you. God of our journey, we pray that your Word be on our lips so that we may speak of you. God of our journey, we pray that you be in our hearts so that we may love you. God of our journey, we pray that we may be open to the workings of the Spirit guiding and directing us. God of our journey, we pray that, when we are challenged, we receive the strength and courage we need to remain faithful disciples. Amen. On Monday staff and students from St Dominic s joined us to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption. This feast day commemorates the assumption of Our Lady into heaven when according to our faith, "having completed her course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory". The Assumption signals the end of Mary's earthly life and marks her return to heaven to be reunited with Jesus. The children from both schools enjoyed this opportunity to spend time with each other and the afternoon soccer match was enjoyed by all. The School Improvement Surveys will open on Monday August 29th and close on Friday 16th September. These surveys are completed annually by parents, staff and senior students and are an important tool in gauging the strengths, challenges and areas of improvement. In order to achieve a true indication it is important that a substantial number of parents complete this survey. In completing the survey you will remain anonymous and the only information we will receive is the collective responses once collated. We would therefore greatly appreciate your continued support by completing the survey this year. More information will be sent home shortly. The theme for this years Book Week is The Greatest Story Ever Told. To heighten interest in this event we are holding a Book Festival over 2 weeks and today, as part of that festival, we held our Bedtime Story Pyjama Dress Up Day. Children enjoyed a milk drink and cookie this afternoon during story time. This festival will finish next Friday with a Dress Up Parade at 9:30am; we would love to have you join us.
