We had some great success with all children participating to the best of their abilities. The overall results are as follows: Cody H 1500 m 3 rd place. Hayley J 1500 m 5 th place. Levi K 100m 3 rd place. Tahlia P 200m 3 rd place, 800m 6 th place. Through to Regionals: Eliouise S Hurdles, 1 st place. Jessica C Long Jump 2 nd place. Xavier L 800m 1 st place Boys 4 X 100m 2 nd place Toby C, Levi K, Jack A, and Brodie R. Thankyou to all the parents who drove the children to and from the event and stayed to cheer the children on. FORTUNE GARDEN PROJECT: Throughout this week we have had quite a lot of work completed in the Fortune Garden (donated block). With the support of Emily from the Bunnings East store, (including their generous donations and extra workers), we managed to paint the interior of the fence in a green colour to match our classroom buildings. We also assembled the garden beds that were donated by Bunnings and planted a mixture of herbs and vegetables. The children involved were particularly excited to see four boxes of worms being deposited into the garden beds as well as the top soil. Two park benches were donated and a revolving compost bin, which have all for the moment, been locked away until we can secure them to the ground when the project is complete. A small row of fruit trees was planted along the Northern end of the block and we currently have Custom Built Gazebos installing a gazebo behind the giant chess board. This Gazebo will have a concrete floor and seating both internally and externally allowing for whole classes to be accommodated within it as an outdoor classroom. We are very grateful to PAFA as their ongoing fundraising efforts have enabled us to erect such a wonderful shaded structure for our students in this lovely passive garden space. From The Principal SCHOOL DISCO: The school disco was very well attended this year and again, I would like to acknowledge and thank PAFA and the wonderful volunteers who worked throughout the afternoon and evening to make the night such a success for our students. Thankyou also to my very dedicated staff who also stayed behind to help supervise the children and who all joined in the fun of the disco. TASKWORKS CAMP: We are looking forward to welcoming back the Grade 3s from their overnight TASKWORKS camp tomorrow afternoon. They are all looking forward to having fabulous time! Thankyou Alice, Daniel and Sharon for accompanying the children. As mentioned last week, our staff volunteer to go on camp away from their own families, for no extra benefit other than making sure the children enjoy the experience. We are lucky to have such dedicated and caring staff at NNG PS! FOOTY DAY: This morning we held our Annual Footy Day parade where the children came along to school dressed in their favourite football team colours. This year, we also participated in a Footy Clinic hosted by representatives from the Richmond Football. (Unfortunately, or fortunately if you are a Richmond supporter, no players were available during this visit as they are currently involved in training for their important match on the weekend.) The amount we raised from our coin line will be announced at tomorrow s assembly, thank you all for your efforts. All proceeds will be going towards the Monash Children s Centre in honour of one of our students who has been overwhelmed by the wonderful support and care she has received from this facility. END OF TERM ARRANGEMENTS: Don t forget that we have an early dismissal tomorrow at 2:30. Assembly will be at 2:00. I would like to wish all of you a very happy and restful holiday over the next two weeks and I will see you back at school on Monday 9 th October. Kind Regards, Mrs Fran Van Lambaart

X PLAY IS THE WAY A very important part of every child s life is play, and it is during play where students learn the social and emotional skills that we use throughout our whole lives. It is important to remember, and the orange poster reminds our students, that although it is great to play games, have fun and sometimes be a bit silly; We do the right thing because it is the best thing to do.
