Raduka A.D./Associate Principal February 2016 Course Request & Scheduling for 2016-2017 Course requests & scheduling for the 2016-2017 school year will begin this week. This is both an exciting and serious time as students plan their academic career paths at Oconomowoc High School. The scheduling process is divided into 2 different parts: 1. Course Requests- February 5 th February 15th (The process is explained in this packet.) 2. Lab Scheduling- Early April after Spring Break (further information will be delivered in March.) For the Course Request process, please do the following: Review the Program Planning Guide (PPG) to learn about courses you want to take next year. This is where you will find information regarding course descriptions, necessary prerequisites and graduation requirements. The PPG can be found on the OHS website in the Announcements/News and then by clicking on OHS Scheduling Information for 2016-2017. It will also be on the OHS website under Academics>OHS Scheduling Information for 2016-2017>2016-2017 Oconomowoc High School Program Planning Guide. Consult with your current and previous teachers for recommendations and suggestions about courses. Students considering the IB Diploma Programme or the IB-PLTW Career Related Programme are advised to consult with Mrs. Schultz before submitting course requests. Choose 8 credits worth of courses you wish to Request. These are your top choices. Also it is very important to select 8 Alternate courses you would take if there is a conflict with the courses you requested. Fill in the attached Course Request sheet to assist you with this process. Between Feb 5 th - Feb 15 th - Log into Student Access at any time and enter the courses you wish to Request and the Alternates courses you would consider. Students who do not have Internet access at home can utilize computers or Chromebooks in the Library or Career Center during lunch or after school.

Be sure to select 8 total credits and 8 alternate courses. Selecting some alternates from the core academic areas (Math, Science, Social Studies or English) is highly recommended and can help immensely during the Lab Scheduling portion of this process. All course Requests and Alternates must be entered by 4pm on Monday, February 15th. *** Any student who fails to complete the course request process on time will be pulled from the Lab Scheduling rotation and thus will be among the last to schedule in May. *** For the Lab Scheduling Process, students will only have access to courses they entered as Requested Courses or as Alternate Courses. If you have any questions or concerns regarding any portion of this process, please contact your School Counselor.

COURSE REQUEST FORM 2016/2017 OCONOMOWOC HIGH SCHOOL BEFORE COMPLETING THIS FORM. Remember, the courses you Request and the Alternates will be the only courses that you can utilize during Lab Scheduling Process, so choose wisely. Be sure to Request 8 total credits and 8 Alternate courses Review the Program Planning Guide for scheduling guidelines. Talk to your teachers, parents, and counselor about courses you plan to take and graduation requirements. Fill out the form below and use it when entering your COURSE REQUESTS and ALTERNATE COURSES online in Student Access. This must be completed between Friday, February 5th and 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15th. COURSE REQUESTS Course # Course Name Credit Course # Course Name Credit Requesting 8.0 CREDITS is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED Minimum number of CREDITS requested allowed is 7.0. *Requesting these courses does not guarantee that they will fit into your schedule. The Alternates you request will be your only options if your first choices are not available or do not fit where you need them. ALTERNATE REQUESTS Course # Course Name Credit Course # Course Name Credit Consider selecting some Core Academic Courses (Math, English, Science or Social Studies) as Alternates. Doing so can provide increased flexibility during the Lab Scheduling portion of the process and will assist you in making progress towards the OASD Graduation Requirements. Course Requests must be entered by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15th or you will lose your position in the Lab Scheduling Rotation.
